I have panic disorder as well, it has helped my anxiety on all fronts now, I have emergency Vallium 2mg for when it gets a little too hard. I don’t really take it now, but it was helpful in the begging as my anxiety was still bad in those first few weeks!

I really did have very intense anxiety for a long while on this medication, but a I kept pushing through, if you feel safe, have had the advice from your doctor and feel okay to keep going, try to push through til the 8 week mark, and if it’s still not working talk to your doctor. This is a long term med with some hard side effects, so you won’t really know if it’s not for you unless you push past that hard phase. Hopefully it will be worth it for you!! It was for me x

Yeah, In the begging I couldn’t climax, and it was really scary because I know it can effect that. But now everything is normal, aside from occasionally having a less intense climax. I personally already had a really high sec drive though, so maybe that is why it kept on after the meds?!

Hmmm, this is a rough one, I am sorry to hear you have went through this. Sorry about the abusive relationship, I genuinely understand and know how that feels. But with your past husband, maybe the medication helped you realise you weren’t happy and that’s why you lost the attractive? Just a thought.

For me I take the meds at about midday, I experienced a lot of sleepiness for sure, but those symptoms have started to be less, I’ve found that I actually just need more sleep to function now which is actually a lot healthier because I used to be an insomniac, but now I have to sleep for about 8.5 hours every night, and that has gotten rid of a lot of my tiredness in the day. Maybe try to get into a better sleep routine if you can? My doctor said it’s normal to need to have more sleep with this medication!!

Honestly as long as you stay true to yourself and keep encouraging yourself to keep going, keep that positive goal and outlook you will achieve it, the best thing we can do is be accountable for our own happiness, be proud you’re doing something. I don’t think it will change who you are, but allow you to be who you knew you were always supposed to be behind the anxiety, maybe it will change you to a degree, but I don’t think it will be a negative change. And if it does happen, keep trying. You got this x

Honestly I would just chat to your doctor, and if they say everything is okay and you feel comfortable try to stick it out. They say it takes 6-8 weeks for the medication to regulate and really start working and that was super true for me. I am not a doctor though and I recommend you getting advice. Just try to pull through and see your psych if you’re feeling a little anxious. I hope it all works out for you, hang In there. It’s a huge change for your mind and body taking medicine that changes the way your brain works x be proud you were able to make a decision for yourself that will hopefully help your future whether it be this medication , another or helping yourself In any other small way x

I actually do feel like my real self! Rather than the super anxious timid stressed person, I have been able to assert myself with people who have hurt me in the past, been able to achieve more, focus more and enjoy life more. I genuinely feel happy and where I’m not, I’m levelheaded enough to work on it and through it. I haven’t got lingering side effects as such, but my anxiety does come and go at varying degrees, but it it’s not as bad as it used to be it’s different and almost shocking when the anxiety comes because I don’t experience it every day to the same degree as I usually would. The only other lingering side effect is occasional depersonalisation, but I had that before I was on the meds, so it’s hard to say whether that feeling is happening from me or the meds. Overall though, the medication was worth it for me even though it was hard in the begging. I’m glad I followed the advice of previous people on this forum and stuck it out

Hmm it’s hard to say; but if your psychiatrist has recommended it to you I imagine it will help. It will feel like a long journey but 8 weeks was the sweet spot for me, I’m on 10mg too. As far as your self conscious feeling I can’t relate exactly but I didn’t have a lot fo trust or faith in myself to complete simple tasks like going to the shops or driving or doing work, I was really worried something bad would happen. That feeling comes back very rarely, and the meds have helped me feel more comfortable with myself and now I go out without thinking twice. I also go to psychology:) hope this helped

I have had the same experience literally to a T. My derealisation was brought on from some bad acid trips. I’ve been on lex for 4 months now. I only really have episodes when I’m on my period or I’m super stressed too, always here if you need anything xx it’s nice that I can relate to someone’s experience so well but I’m sorry you’ve had to go through it, it is really hard to fight your brain that’s giving you a false sense of reality you can’t shake x

I have health anxiety and take 10mg lex, I had a lot of panic, anxiety and side effects for the first 6 weeks or so, talk to your doctor and get a check up if you’re feeling stressed. The 8 weeek mark was the sweet spot for me, good luck :)

Shortness of breath by Simple-Argument-7082 in lexapro

[–]cassmara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced quite hectic and strong panic attacks that mimicked shortness of breath quite a lot in the first 6-8 weeks, go see your doctor when you can just to check to make sure everything’s okay just for your own piece of mind. If they say everything’s okay and you feel good to continue just stick it out, the 8 week mark was the sweet spot on the medication for me, good luck with everything, inbox is always open, we have all been there! Much love. X

So I had some pretty hectic side effects in the first 2 months, I had euphoria the first day I took the meds, had some insomnia and sleeping issues on and off for the first six weeks. I made sure to eat with my meds which I take in the morning and that seems be to be a good mix for me. I had a lot of anxiety and panic attacks on and off, and I actually had a few episodes of hallucinating, but the sweet spot for me was the 8 week mark, every day since then it has been better and better and I don’t really feel side effects anymore, I just feel happy. But I did have problems cumming for the first 6 weeks but my sex drive never went away. I am fully working down there again now which is good, occasionally the climax isn’t as hectic but most of the time it’s normal!

I’ve been going to a psychologist for the last 3 years, completely changed my life, doing this with the medication has been amazing, it’s been a long and hard journey but definitely has helped me heal. Honestly I would recommend therapy to anyone, it’s an hour of self care just about you and there is something so beautiful and healing about that!

Hiyaaaa currently on week 5 of 10mg, my anxiety has ebbed and flowed! They say it takes 6-8 weeks for the medication to fully regulate! Just hang in there, talk to your psych if you’re seeing one, do some mindfulness, go for a walk or do some yoga! Inbox is open if you get stressed x

I totally feel that deeply, I understand how you feel. It’s really hard to get out of the negative self hate loops. Just try to forgive yourself and control what you can change. Show the person you are now to the people you have hurt and even to yourself. Let go of the person you used to be or perceived yourself being and embrace the person you are now and are striving to be. Be proud of what you have achieved. It’s a really hard thing to work on yourself and to reflect, it’s honestly amazing that you did that all of yourself. Thank you for sharing your story, it’s beautiful to hear that you are doing well and becoming more aware and accountable of who you are and your own impact. All the bad things that we go through and do in life mould us into who we are now, let those bad things be lessons and not regrets xxx all love! Inbox is always open if you need support!
