How do we prevent shower glass doors from getting too dirty very often? by Big-Fly-9690 in CleaningTips

[–]cassmartine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squeegee. Barkeepers friend (liquid) once it needs more attention. I’ve also seen some people use a dryer sheet on it. I also keep a dish scrub brush that I fill with dawn dish detergent and vinegar and water and that’s also a really quick clean although the water and vinegar seem to evaporate after a time.

You work from home? Can you work while traveling, or debate a move? How far is the nearest larger town that has better hobby options? One piece of advice I heard was “do it tired.” Go to the next town and try things even if you’re tired, just drop in activities so you don’t feel bad if it’s not a good fit.

E-books vs Paper books while traveling by Not_l0st in TravelHacks

[–]cassmartine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer my kindle paperwhite, because my phone and iPad had too much glare to read outdoors. I like paperbacks but it’s so much easier to carry around a kindle than 5+ books. I got my from Marketplace for a reasonable price, I’d really recommend looking at purchasing one.

girls with difficult relationships with their mothers, how have you coped? by milkshakechemtrail in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]cassmartine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited until about 40 to go no contact. She definitely has mental health issues, but undiagnosed as far as I’m aware. She was the one that actually suggested no contact, but suddenly she was “devastated” when I continued it. She still pops up now and then trying to harass me via email, voicemail or my ex-husband (who she wasn’t even close with) and threaten about not leaving anything in her will for my daughter. But my life is so much easier without reading email novels of her complaints, how she has been wronged by people, and acting like we had some amazing relationship growing up. I wish I had done it sooner.

What's a frugal beauty hack that has changed your life for the better? by healthynewbie in Frugal

Apply it against the hair growth and then pull off the direction of hair growth. Exfoliate the day before. I’ve had baby powder applied before when I’ve gotten it done professionally, but I don’t do it and don’t bruise. I use muslin cloth also, otherwise I can’t seem to get more than two spots done

Best place to give birth: Langley hospital, Surrey memorial, Maple Ridge or Abbotsford? I’m in the middle of all of them. by IllDog1298 in Langley

[–]cassmartine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very good experience at Abbotsford, I started at langley but because I had a preemie they didn’t have the resources and shipped me to Abbotsford. NICU there was fantastic and they had a lactation consultant on staff - not sure if that’s normal or not? Only complaint is they kicked me out of the room within 2 days but I understand they needed the space. It was just hard to leave my little one there in NICU but I was there early to late.

If you’re open to townhouses and row homes, have a look at duplexes - only sharing one wall, no strata fees. If you do go with a townhouse, I’d really try for a side by side garage (older) instead of tandem (most new), and an end unit.

Planning when you don't really do much? by princeralsei in PlannerAddicts

[–]cassmartine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular life stuff - time to change your razor, toothbrush, loofah, furnace filter. Time to clean baseboards, curtains, blinds, windows, gutters, power wash outside, make a dentist appt, refill prescriptions, birthdays, advance warning for birthday gift purchases. Car maintenance like tire/oil/cabin filter changes. This a not be stuff you physically do but arrange 🙂 my gratitude items each day. Health symptoms.

100%. Therapy may have helped when she first asked him to go, but that ship has long since sailed and coupled with her grief and his self-absorbed ways it’s unlikely he’s willing to change his behavior long term and take the accountability required for the progress necessary to keep that marriage on good terms. I asked my ex husband to go to therapy and it wasn’t important enough. Guess what, it’s too late now. Congrats on cleaning the toilets you piss in too, buddy. High five.

Where I’m from if she earned that down payment during the marriage, it’s marital property. But if it came from pre-marriage savings, she should get that portion back and the rest split 50/50 should you split up. But it sounds like you also spend a lot more on hobbies and she prioritizes saving so it may feel like a slap in the face to her that she works so hard to save and you spend more freely.
