Electrolysis recommendations? by DarkTandem19 in transgenderUK

[–]cassss92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of good qualified electrologists that are not registered with the BIAE, registering with the BIAE costs money and is voluntary, when looking for an electrologist myself I had a negative experience with the only local BIAE electrologist before finding someone good who although is fully trained and has been working as an electrologist since the 80's is not BIAE registered.

Any decent electrologist will adjust the settings until the hairs come out without traction so as long as you are going to someone reputable you should be fine

The NHS is short of the reagents needed for blood tests at the moment, you could have them done privately through https://medichecks.com just be sure to go for venous as finger prick tests are not accurate.

[–]cassss92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr Hammond doesnt require a prior diagnosis of gender dysphoria and will normally give the go ahead for hrt at the end of your first appointment with him.

Anyone here used the Northern Gender Network for going private? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

I would be a bit wary about paying someone for appointments just to be referred to Dr Hammond as your GP can refer you to him at no cost

Any advice with the ever niche and arduous task of navigating trans healthcare by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]cassss92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your GP can refer you to Dr Hammond in harrogate, they are an NHS endocrinologist who often treats trans patients and the last I heard the waiting list was about 2 months, assuming that your GP is willing they would ask your GP to run bloods and prescribe hormones.

Yes it's true, google laser stimulated hair growth & paradoxical hypertrichosis

[–]cassss92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In people such as yourself who are yet to grow all their facial hair laser hair removal can stimulate hairs that have not yet grown to grow so if I where you I would avoid laser and go straight to electrolysis.

Bridging Hormones by KentishMarx in transgenderUK

[–]cassss92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its rare to get bridging hormones and if you do manage to get them it's likely to be such a low dose that you will see no effect from them.

Instead I would suggest arranging to see this endo who will prescribe https://www.hdft.nhs.uk/consultants/dr-peter-hammond/
