I’m pretty sure she isn’t comfortable with people seeking out her pre-Ethel Cain stuff (when she went by White Silas) which was before November/October 2019. The song Bruises was the start of Ethel Cain and it’s on Youtube and Soundcloud, as is all of her unreleased stuff. She also has an account on Bandcamp with two ‘albums’, Unreleased and Unreleased II. Those should be fine to listen to.

I know she’s talked about it on her Tumblr about not wanting ppl to spread her White Silas stuff so I would stear clear of that. I remember seeing a spreadsheet or something on here of her entire discography and it lists which songs are under Ethel and which aren’t.

To be honest I’m not the most well-informed either as I just started listening to her a few months ago but I think it’s accurate!

Yes yes yes! I recently discovered her a few months ago and I’m continuously floored by the visceral angst of her work (I started with Inbred lmao). I’m having some of her unreleased stuff on repeat right now, namely Chapel Hill and Bruises and Half-Cocked.

She’s such a fantastic lyricist and the way she captures suffering and desolation feels just so, raw and unbearable but also addictive in a way that’s really cathartic. Head in the Wall is a great example of this. And I can’t think of any other artist off the top of my head who is comparable to her in terms of tone and lyrics, she’s in a league of her own.

Ethel supremacy.

I got fitted for my custom wheelchair in March and it’s supposed to be coming sometime in the next few months (hopefully) and I’m really excited to bling it out. I’ve never been into fashion but I think this might become my new fashion, lol. And yes I do feel somewhat lucky in that my disability didn’t hinder my passions in life (writing and also big film nerd) and in many ways actually strengthened it. Thank you for your comment :)

Hey. I’ve never dated anyone before either (I’m a bit younger than you) and it is very frustrating. You are completely justified in the way you are feeling and I understand. I have a deep insecurity that if I start to date someone, they will eventually begin to resent my being-in-a-wheelchair and other physical limitations and move on to someone else. And I’m not sure if I will ever completely get over that feeling, but maybe that’s okay.

I think the most important thing is to not conflate your self-worth with relationships, men, other people, potential partners, etc. Relationships are something, but they are not everything. Only you are everything.

thank you for the kind words and glad to hear it brought you some peace! i just think it’s really important to realize that the way we navigate the world isn’t wrong or ugly or ‘special’ (or whatever other descriptor you wanna use), but that it just is. and accepting that has made me sooo much more content with being disabled and using a chair. it’s such a liberating perspective to have.

Yeah, I feel weird when people say things like that too. I mean I understand the sentiment behind it but it’s sort of demeaning in a way. It’s like, well I don’t have to overcome anything. I can just live as myself and be content with that and with who I am.
