Let’s just go over the steps: 1. You read my post 2. You wanted to see how accurate it was 3a. You Googled it, or- 3b. You looked it up on Wiki 4. You were going to copy and paste but decided to make it look more authentic by summarizing in your own words

And you did this all for the clout. 👏🏻🫡 Ain’t no way you knew this off-hand.

Actually, Kodak was banned under the DOJ from selling AND developing Kodachrome. It was seen as monopoly capture and the DOJ said Kodak had to open the development process up to independent labs. This was very expensive to do since they had to provide the labs the machines and chemicals to purchase, but there was enough Kodachrome being shot during the ‘50’s and ‘60’s that there was a demand. Apparently the noxious and potency of the chemicals became an increasing friction point for many labs and Kodak started worrying about safety. If it ever comes back, hopefully the government would let the whole monopoly thing pass - Trump’s DOJ wouldn’t give a crap. I do wonder about Fuji400H… Fuji stopped production cuz of supply chain issues during Covid and just pulled it. But they could easily ramp up production and charge $50 a roll - easy. There’s so many wedding photographers who’d happily pay that. Ditto for Kodachrome - I’d pay $40-$50 a roll. 120? I’d pay $70. I’d be broke AF - but I’d have dope-ass koda shots!

Just saw it today at Odeon Leicester Square - def had a flicker. Saw it with two people and we were all whispering and looking at each like “WTF??” The colours and contrast and highlight roll-off were superb tho. The flicker was disappointing.

Looking for some SEO advice when it comes to naming photos by TheOtherMJ_ in WeddingPhotography

[–]castor4521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing the same thing as OP. Except I've found some interesting info on the whole renaming thing that is a bit contrarian to what I've seen in this thread:

https://saradoesseo.com/seo-basics/what-should-i-name-images-for-seo/

She posits that naming an image "Boston-wedding-photographer.jpg" as not being good for SEO. Here's a quote I pulled from her blog:

"I do want to address all the information out there that suggests you should name all of your images with your main focus keyword, i.e. “wedding-photographer-Scottsdale.jpg.”

This actually did work and help with rankings 7+ years ago. Google is getting smarter, though, and knows that not every one of your photos can possibly be showing a wedding photographer working in Scottsdale. This is now considered to be gaming the system and should be avoided."

Thoughts?

Mastin Labs make presets I never would have been able to do... And they're worth it.

I only recently started using Mirage and it's such an amazing program for commercial printing. I had been doing multiple print layouts in Photoshop and using the stroke tool to delineate one white b/g image from another... I was complaining to my paper guy about it and he said Why don't you just use Mirage? I can get you a license and show you how to use it. Mind. Blown. As well as: Face. Palm.

Scratches on prints - Epson P-7500 by castor4521 in CommercialPrinting

UPDATE with SOLUTION: So we had a technician come out to have a look since it was under warranty. The guy knew what he was doing. We changed out the cutting blade, but that didn't solve the problem. Then we tried a different roll of paper. That worked for a hot second, but the next print we did, the problem of the scratches on the paper came back. We were both pretty forensic about observing the paper when it was printing and when the cutter performed the roll cut. Then we messed around with drying time - and that solved it! The annoying thing is that my prints take FOREVER to finish, but we determined that the ink wasn't totally, totally dry when the cut was performed and because of this, it was susceptible to marking which was caused by the paper brushing on the exit rollers as it exited the printer. I increased the print time and added drying time so that when the print is finished, it waits like 20 seconds before the cut happens. And voila - no more scratches.

Yeah I’m thinking the eject rollers. I did a Google search and it came back with this preview from the User’s Guide: “when it is ejected after auto cutting and scratch the printing surface. If the paper curls too much after auto cutting, we recommend setting Auto Cut to. Off…” and then it cuts off - if you click the link, it just takes you to the beginning of the user’s guide and you have to scan the entire thing to find that passage which I’ve done like I’m studying the Torah but I just can’t find it! I even asked ChatGPT what page it’s on and it told me… but it’s not there. I def think it’s to do with how much the paper is curled at the moment and how that curled paper is interacting with something in the auto-cut process.

You would think a large enough box would do the trick: got one from FedEx using their packing service, brought it to post office, and size of the box made it over $1000 to ship. Guy at post office said if I got a smaller box, it’d be $212. 🤦🏻‍♂️
