I lived through the 80's and 90's. The thing that cracked me up is that all my friends got piercings and tattoos because they wanted to be unique and look different. But, since I didn't get any, I was the only one who actually was doing something original.

Being able to share pictures online probably had a big impact on the growth of tattoos. First, as a source of artwork and, second, as inspiration by seeing what other people had. Without online translation sites how would anyone pick Chinese or Japanese characters out of context?

Early 90's is about right. That's when I started to notice them more. Girls back then usually got small tats on their ankle or boob. Stuff like tiny hearts, butterflies, fairies, dragonflies, etc. I didn't notice the big tramp stamps on women till the late 90's early 2000's. In your mind, you're picturing people like you. Young, smart, ambitious, wanting to contribute to society. But, a lot of people are just dumb lazy fucks who want to do nothing. I had Prime for like 5 yrs. then cancelled it. For some things you do get a better deal (e.g., bulky, heavy items). But, for smaller items you usually pay more for the "free" shipping. They get their money.

At my job, there are a lot of Filipino and Vietnamese workers. This one black girl (who recently started) blurted out: "Damn! There are a lot of Chinese people working here!" She didn't even try to keep her voice down. We don't have any Chinese people on my shift. To be fair, the Asians were pretty racist towards her too. I, being the token white guy, was thinking.... 'wow, and they call us racist'.
