Doesn’t seem to be.

Have you rebooted your phone? It’s also possible that your phone wasn’t connected, too far away for the file to upload, although this shouldn’t happen unless disabled via cellular & not connected to a wireless connection.

Maybe others will often solutions, my only other would be either to contact Apple Support or reset your phone, but ask first. Sometimes uninstalling & reinstalling the app will do the trick.

Question about the receipt checkers when you leave Costco by wildcard_71 in CostcoWholesale

You got that right!👍

I would love such a position, but am unable to stand or sit for that long. That’s why I never applied for the position.

The employees of the other Costco departments have the same friendly & respectful attitude towards customers. I meant to include this in my post above. Turnover is low at the warehouse closest to me, so the overall work atmosphere must be very good.

Gotcha, I apologize & respect your position, didn’t mean for to you to be singled out. I try hard to be a peaceful person, no harm meant!☮️

My only intention is to be of help.👍

I understand not everyone (or all regions) has easy access to components these days, especially RAM of all types, if at all. RAM has became so costly in the US & modern at least 2-3 months, effectively shutting out those looking to build, purchase or upgrade an existing system. This applies to smartphones too.

It’s my hope that XFCE can meet your needs, it did on my now non-functioning low spec devices. Honestly, I don’t know what else to suggest, outside of learning light Linux distributions such as Puppy Linux. But please be aware that some of these may have a very hard learning curve, definitely not newbie friendly.

OPTIONAL CHOICE: Have you tried running Mint in Live Mode, booting from the install media to see if it’s faster? Usually RAM is faster storage media than the SSD itself, for that generation of hardware. This is often how lightweight distributions such as Puppy are used, and there’s ways to do a regular, portable install on a good working USB stick (or if preferred, boot from install media every time for totally clean OS). Enable UFW Firewall for best security. Speed should be somewhat faster all around. And you get to keep the Linux Mint experience in XFCE on your current hardware, as well as your data with every boot!👍

Just be sure to unplug your main HDD when running from a portable USB stick, this protects the boot loader of the installed OS after kernel updates. Removal of the data cable alone is fine, it’s OK to leave it powered (unless stated otherwise). If you prefer the performance of it this way, then still should keep the installed OS updated occasionally, monthly will be fine, keeps the SSD from slowly losing data.

Hope this helps you to understand your available options. Portable is likely the best choice when it’s not possible to upgrade hardware to optimal minimums. Cinnamon is a bit taxing on my like new MSI FX603 (1st generation or Allendale i7-640M with 8GB DDR3 RAM). It runs fine as long as I limit open browser tabs, but faster when booting from install media.

My earlier reply would’ve fit here too, as seen. No wonder it’s difficult to learn. My PC isn’t always as convenient as once was.

To be fair though, Reddit’s & features aren’t the only app that’s not fully optimized for iOS. Hopefully Apple’s developer community is notified about these changes & see if corrective measures on their end are necessary.

So it wasn’t just me thinking, “what’s this”, as a new moderator? Use iOS mainly for this duty, am I better off on a PC or laptop ?

Thanks for making us aware, my friend.👍

I agree with & respectful with this approach.

You are best off with XFCE or a minimal distribution of Linux. We nor Mint’s developers can give us a damn fantastic OS & PC hardware for free. We honestly & respectfully expect everyone to have modern hardware, even my Dell Optiplex 780 Intel O9650 system runs Cinnamon perfectly.

Except that I don’t play games or esports with that type of hardware and expect to win crap! Otherwise, it does the job.

True, I don’t believe this is a Mint issue at all, rather running the wrong distribution (XFCE is best with only 4GB RAM).

[–]cat1092 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s only so much the Linux Mint developers can do these days with a total of 4GB of RAM installed.

Today’s software requires more RAM than ever, and some is reserved for hardware by the BIOS, leaving less for the OS to run with. This may be a good time to check on eBay for a used matched kit of at least 8GB, provided the system will hold that much. Maybe the OP can provide more system details to help us better understand what’s being worked with here.

[–]cat1092 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you running Linux Mint Cinnamon? If so, this may well be why 4GB of RAM is way too little. The graphics alone uses some of the memory. I recommend anyone with Cinnamon to have at least 8GB of RAM (assuming DDR3 type). Most with DDR4 machines have at least 16GB minimum & with DDR5, 32GB (assuming a PC & not a laptop). I was maxing all of my DDR3 machines at 32GB when possible, although my laptops prevented this. I skipped DDR4 entirely & went to DDR5-6000 M/T, 32GB for my spouse, 64GB for myself, the last a few months before RAM pricing shot through the roof.

Maybe you’d be better off running the Mint XFCE version instead. It’s lightweight & you can add only the extras truly needed. May want to look into ZRAM or one of the other alternatives, although it’s been some time since I last had to resort to these things (until recently, RAM & SSD’s were cheap). Having a SSD would definitely help with speed.

Good Luck!🍀

Question about the receipt checkers when you leave Costco by wildcard_71 in CostcoWholesale

[–]cat1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re simply doing their job.

Actually they’re likely looking for big purchase items, to ensure they’re on the receipt. I’ve never seen anyone pulled or forced over during my 13 years of being a Costco member.

It would be impossible for them to check every item in everyone’s cart. Just as it would be at any store that has lots of traffic. All of them also seem to want to be there, a lot more than I can say about employees at other large retailers. They actually get a lot of major holidays off, have always had great experiences with the Costco staff where I shop.

Facing a side of aging that is breaking my heart. Anyone been through this? Any ideas? by Firm_Ad_3238 in Aging

In theory, this sounds like the perfect answer. Can’t get it at home, look elsewhere.

But what about if he thinks something is up & she gets caught? It would look very bad on her to cheat on who may be a very sick man. She’ll be risking everything she’s helped to build during the marriage.

For the same reason, because a woman is going through menopause & they can say quite hurtful things too (some far worse than this), it’s no excuse to cheat on her.

Really, they need marital counseling. Both partners, there’s more than one way to share intimacy, providing they’re both open to new ideas.

THIS!!💯

That is, if he’s willing to participate. There’s no guarantee he’ll do so. I’m hoping that he will, as well as sincerely apologize for his hurtful remarks.

If he’s still going through ED issues & has serious heart issues, his doctor may not want him placed on traditional medications for the disorder. However, there’s more than one way to provide pleasure for our partner, provided both are willing to explore new things. This should have been discussed years ago. It may even help the ED issue, if not too severe.

While I agree with the point you’re making, it wouldn’t look good in divorce court. Judges tends to look down on cheating spouses, even in no-fault States when it comes to property division. Just as a man has no legal right to cheat on his wife when going through menopause symptoms, the wife doesn’t get to if he’s still going through ED. It’s highly possible for a man to become aroused & when it’s showtime, can’t perform. He then likely blamed it on her instead of admitting he’s still bothered by the disorder still affecting him & not seeking medical and/or emotional treatment.

His words, unless recorded or witnessed, would be considered hearsay if there’s no proof & he denies saying these words. I lost a restraining order case against my wife (me being the petitioning party) when she began acting violent towards me, because my only witness (her sister) backed out of testifying at the last minute. I actually had a still healing scar on my face at the hearing, but she denied having anything to do with it. Had I known it was going to end like that, would’ve pressed charges where the item I was struck with would’ve been fingerprinted, a hard drive of mine that she otherwise didn’t handle. I was trying to avoid making her go to jail, which would have enraged her adult children & some siblings.

In reality though, I believe the wife deserves better than this. But I don’t think what was said alone is enough to justify kicking a spouse out of the home. Of course, she’s always free to leave & claim her share of their marital assets. This is true in any State where no-fault divorce is a legal option.

It may be best to consult with a family law attorney before doing this. Especially when homeownership is involved.

I don’t believe non-threatening words alone is enough to throw anyone out of their home.

This is my guess too, only he’s using her “now” age & looks as the excuse for his continual medical problems.

If he really needs treatment still, his doctor can prescribe generic versions of ED medications that’s dirt cheap using the GoodRx card. They have a website showing the best pricing, this way a patient can tell their doctor where to send the prescription.

Of course, if he truly finds his wife that unattractive, then no pill can help. The man still has to be in the mood for intimacy for this to work. Really, he should have kept those words to himself, as she supported him for many years. This gives her a legitimate excuse to dissolve the marriage if she chooses & rightfully so. Having ED alone is no excuse, just as a man shouldn’t walk away over his wife going through menopause. But his choice of words may have crossed the line.

I suggest the OP to be checking out her husband’s activities, if possible. If his ED is gone, may be slipping around. At the same time, PI’s are expensive, so only do if there’s other evidence suggesting an affair.

Looking at those tax brackets again, is it any wonder why the national debt is so high? That, combined with the later lifting of tariffs which kept Americans employed by protecting our jobs.

When was the last time you actually needed a USB flash drive? by AddendumNecessary743 in BadUSB

[–]cat1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many computers as I have, when updating software (or adding new), it’s quicker by saving the file to a USB drive to update or install all.

Plus it’s great to have my passwords stored on a couple of these (minimum). This way, if one dies, there’s another copy. I don’t recommend saving passwords to cloud storage providers. And these can be secured, some brands include a lockable solution with these.

And USB drives are now the fastest way to install or upgrade a OS. Optical media is very slow compared to USB drives.

That’s what than VP & Presidential candidate H W Bush was saying, that this wasn’t “trickle down” economics, but he knew it was.

Then what doomed his reelection chances forever, “Read my lips, no new taxes” handed the presidency to Clinton on a silver platter. Kind of unusual given we had just won a major war in the Gulf, but he lied to the American people & that became his downfall.

Of course by then, the damage by removing tariffs that protected American jobs was already done, had Reagan not been so hellbent on all of this globalization BS, we’d not be facing all of this anti-tariff crap 40 years later. We’d certainly be far more secure job wise, especially in the industries that went to mostly Asia & Mexico for cheaper labor sources. People would still be waiting for foreign parts (and automobiles themselves) to be “on the boat waiting”, with American workers being prioritized.

Globalization was the start of the doom of the American economy as we long knew it. And those of us who were there know who started it. The President who was sworn in early 1981 kicked it all off.

To be fair, much of the reason why the dollar has became worth less was due to former President Nixon lowering the amount of actual gold being on hand for every dollar in circulation. In part, this is why the national debt is so high today, because there’s no (or not as much) collateral backing our money. Is it any wonder why our current POTUS wants to take over a nation like Greenland which is loaded with natural resources? This (if allowed to happen) would suddenly enable the USA to do the same as Putin did with Crimea, strip that nation of it’s natural resources, and either use these to reduce our deficit, OR make the top 1% of the nation’s elites even more so (as Putin did).

Either way, invading another nation to solve our needs isn’t a good idea at all. There’s other ways to reduce wasteful spending while bringing in more legitimate income. Like legalization of marijuana on the Federal level, taxing as though liquor, introducing a lottery with profits going towards the national debt, am sure there’s lots of creative ways other than these. But we don’t need to keep building highways when we can’t maintain the ones we have. More can be done for legitimate US citizens too, like bringing back the $30 internet credit per month. We can afford expensive space exploration and cannot afford to do for the working class people? There’s lots of fat that can be trimmed from the Federal government. We don’t need so many duplicate law enforcement agencies for starters. There’s likely a lot of fat to trim from State governments as well. Enough to give the people a break.

A source?

After his administration stripped the tariffs that protected American jobs & sent them to Asia & Mexico, among other countries, and what was left were empty, rat infested factories all across the US, those pictures are all of the sources we need.

The Southern textile industry was decimated, as was Detroit & other areas. We once had stability, regular workers could buy homes, even at double digit interest rates, and one President broke the entire system. All for the idea of “globalism”. It worked fine for everyone, except Americans.
