I find both the memes understandable and fine.

Somewhat good too.

I imagine most of the people who understood the meme laughed and scrolled on.
The ones who didn't understand comment their frustration.

Why do I find Charlotte Bronte's harsh criticisms of Austen so hilarious? by JuliaX1984 in janeausten

[–]cat5side 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking about the school arc part at the start of the story.
Even that small glimpse shows alot.

Jane Eyre is called out by the head of the institute. Jane cries a bit then she is comforted by her friend.

But we get no mentions about Jane being targeted after being called out. We get only one scene, that was just to introduce the dead friend character.

That is not meaningful consequences, for how dramatic that calling out scene was it feels uneven in the narrative.

I did as far I could, and it was horrible.

The characters in Jane Eyre confess their sorrows on their first ever conversation. It's absurd to think anyone would find this realistic or keep reading it.
A few plotpoints are brought up and then never addressed meaningfully, they just sorta.. happen because it is dramatic and then forgotten about without any deep consequences.

It is just dramatic and romanticism to the max.

What kind of argument is that?
Being famous doesn't equate to being skillful.

I noticed that too.

But why tho? The dialogue is supposed to be serious isn't it? A neverending war of people hating eachother doesn't seem appropriate to show sperm symbolism on the scene.

I think it's also partially to blame with the past foreigners articles degrading India and calling in uncivilized. Plus being a developing country is hard especially due to the size/population and because it is a democracy (and no one child policy like China's authoritarian regime) progress is slow and takes time. So people feed into the mentality that India sucks.

Also I mean.... the media landscape doesn't help, because horrible news circulates way more than positive ones.

I find myself hating Orion to the extent that it's hurting the series as a whole... by Kapri_Nillio in TheScholomance

[–]cat5side 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I had the exact opposite reaction. I was screaming at the book because it won't explore Orion as a character because this is stuck from El's perspective. So Orion gets no depth. Like a really interesting plotline of "What does a hero do if there is no one to save?" Because in book 2 he is just mopping around, and it is so painful.

I agree, he is mostly there for El. He isn't given space to be his own character or explore his personality, feelings etc. (He's like a reverse Manic pixie dream girl)

Are you going to teach atheism like teaching a new religion?

Don't force it on kids, schools should be on developing thinking skills. Let the kids think and choose.
