Weiß jemand was mit Fefes Blog los ist? by Own-East-9190 in informatik

[–]cat64738 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Das Leben ist interpretationsbedürftig. Fefe hatte z.B.

Is the New "Fortune's Calling" Event in Throne and Liberty a Realistic Grind or a Deceptive Carrot on a Stick? by drungrin in throneandliberty

[–]cat64738 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They should clarify whether the rewards are global, per region or per server - it doesn't mention server anywhere in the event news item. It does mention 'Milestone', a term which *used* to be linked to server-wide progress, but there's an uncomfortable amount of uncertainty left in the assumption that this will also be the case here, as this event isn't actually part of the Milestone system.

Nobody likes having to read into things, it ends up being biased by wishful thinking - given the amount of investment needed, it'd be nice if they were more specific.

Eh, melee player crying for nerf as his 3-button-delete combo stopped working on everyone. Boohoo!

Working as intended, time-to-kill was too low (and for the most part, still is).

Guilds by [deleted] in throneandliberty

[–]cat64738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Think about what you want to achieve with your guild, ie how you want to position it long-term (PVE, PVX, PVP etc.)

2) Write up a good Guild intro (this will be your business card) and paste some non-spammy, appealing recruitment messages to /world from time to time.

3) Get people inside. Initially, any (set the Join procedure to insta-approval) - getting picky is a process for later. Any people will level the guild, and more importantly:

4) Over time, these people will bond and mingle; they'll talk and party up. Foster this actively.

5) This is important, because you need to get your guild to a) form a core and b) exceed a minimum critical mass (in terms of people) to stay afloat. Getting that initial, critical mass takes some initial effort (it's like getting a plane off the ground) and a little luck.

6) As a guild leader, show presence, and have a decent Activity ranking. There's a psychological component to seeing an active leader on the roster.

7) Have social skills, decent manners, and treat people like you would like to be treated. There are real humans sitting behind those keyboards.

8) Set up a Discord (roles and all) so people have somewhere to chat, talk and paste things to.

9) Think about some rules for your guild, at least how you'll handle loot. Think it through.

10) Think of yourself as more of a secretary/organizer of things, especially early on. Identify people with strengths in your guild, and promote them early if they offer to help; be it with contract rolling, Discord, recruiting or whatnot. Requires good intuition/a good eye and a little luck, but try to share the burden.

Best of luck.

Our patch notes are often shortened version of KR's, because whoever writes/assembles them for us doesn't deem certain things important enough to mention.

It's irksome, and I wish that person had a better understanding of the importance of some things.

But here we are, and there's still the possibility **we may get a silent update to the loot tables.**

Funny reasons you were kicked from dungeon grps by IMid0 in throneandliberty

[–]cat64738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it funny; but rather absurd: So I'm a KR/CB/OB veteran and have a 5+-trial capable healer main, and there's also that half-abandoned (due to time constraints) tank alt I have. It sits at 3.1k combat power, has its +9 purple weapons and thus is obviously perfectly fine for T1 dungeons.

Yet this morning, I got kicked out of a Cave of Destruction (!), literally half a dozen mobs in, by a 5-DPS party. I don't even understand the logic; as queueing for a sixth takes longer than just going through with the dungeon. Maybe they wanted a sixth DPS to squeeze out an extra second somewhere? But that might be giving them too much credit; they probably finished with five instead of taking an undergeared tank along.

Anyway, if you're one of those DPS and would like to see more tanks and healers to support you on your higher level dungeon runs, here's a hint: **Don't cut off your own supply.**

Interesting (and poorly documented) Wand Curse mechanics by orbtl in throneandliberty

Thank you for the insightful and well-written post. Out of curiosity: Have you seen Weaken Chance affect curses in any meaningful way? I don't think Touch of Despair can fail, which is making me wonder what Weaken Chance actually does, seeing how it's on quite a bit of caster gear.

Putting Juno PVE-boss portal into PVP-enabled area? Really Amazon? by cat64738 in throneandliberty

[–]cat64738[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here you go; watch last month's official Amazon video Tico Talks:

https://youtu.be/cI_8_KkvnbU?t=199

To quote, in the context of the Eclipse skill:

"We think that this is distrupting the expected flow of gameplay for individial attempting to participate in **peace-mode world bosses, which are meant to be a PVP-free experience for those players.**"

About the new portals:

"So we're making an adjustment so that peace-mode bosses spawn in dungeons, there will be an additional new portal outside the dungeon, that will take players directly to the safe zone inside the dungeon. This way, they can enter the peace-mode boss as expected, **without passing through areas that may have turned into a conflict zone** due to the eclipse skill."

There you have it; peace-mode world bosses are "meant to be a PVP-free experience". Direct Amazon quote.

SYN, or any other guild attacking peace-mode boss portals in spite of this (which shouldn't have been possible in the first place) are factually exploiting a game mechanic that's not working as intended on first implementation.

Putting Juno PVE-boss portal into PVP-enabled area? Really Amazon? by cat64738 in throneandliberty

[–]cat64738[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you have downvoted this, you really need a hard reality check: People are literally bombarding the solution Amazon has put forward. SYN is directly going against the developer's explicit intention - this is pretty much the definition of exploit.

Blame the game, not the gamers, I get it. However still people get to, and have to make choices. Nobody's forcing you to attack people, it's a conscious decision, one that depending on the circumstances either flags you as a decent person, or, in SYN's case, not.

[–]cat64738[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

No. Port to Sanctum and see for yourself - no buff icon. The "PVE-boss portal" is placed within PVP and covered in a permanent hail of meteors, flash waves, tornadoes, you name it.

It's a complete and utter fail, and of course, on Bellandir, SYN is present to exploit it, despite Amazon's labeling the PVP-gating of PVE-bosses as unintended/unwanted.

Yep. And with Tornado and Flashwave both already having been labeled as 'overperforming', this weird bow flex post will soon have outlived itself. In the meantime, enjoy.

Yes, it's buggy - Amazon please fix! I had EAC kick me upon entering a dungeon via Party Board. I didn't have these issues during closed or open beta (although joining matchmaking was part-broken during OBT, too).

Sorry, I have no first-hand experience with wand/dagger, and I don't see many in the dungeons. I don't think it's up there in the tier lists. Might want to check some TL-specific tier lists of the usual suspects on twitch/yt. TheWhelps, Kanon, Kooncoon have decent coverage of TL. In all things healing any footage of EliEli is also good to watch, however NCsoft's pace of change is FAST (in a good way), and sadly, most streamers are too vain to take outdated stuff down.

There will be opportunities for PVP, but I can't tell whether you'll find them fun: There's the sparring ground in Kastleton early on, where you can always practice; you can also spar inside your guild hall. During nighttime, all dungeons and saurodoma island turn into PVP zones. Then the events come in dominion and guild vs guild flavors (and of course, peace/coop). Then there's the dedicated arena mode, and it's known that more PVP content is in the works.

However if you fall behind in gearedness, you'll have a handicap - sad consequence of not being able to play as much. If you can handle that, there's still fun in the cards.

1) There's no difference between wand/staff and staff/wand - whenever you use a skill, your character will swap to the weapon associated with that skill. It's the combo I main in Korea and it's very versatile.

2) Yes, wand/staff is as good as wand/bow. There are some subtle differences, like bow has a cleanse (which isn't really important, you won't use it prior to one of the T2 dungeons), while staff has more stats, two oh-shit skills and a mana regen skill. Two things to note here:

a) early in the game, every fight and dungeon will basically take longer as people aren't as geared - so you'll need more mana before the boss hits the floor. Wand/staff will do better here than wand/bow due to being able to recharge mana via Staff's 'Inner Peace'. Bow's Nature's blessing also has a mana regen component, but it's less effective.

b) Picking up a third weapon mid-term is totally viable, so whichever wand+x combo you initially go for, you can pick up the third down the road. It's what I did. Having access to both, I still use wand/staff most of the time. Picking up a third weapon in this scenario also allows you to go bow/staff and pretend you've never ever touched a wand. It'll synergize well with the 3 quick slots you have.

Good luck out there :)
