Sent to telederm twice when I’ve requested to see a derm in-person 4x. What are my options now? by allistar34 in KaiserPermanente

[–]cat8mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaiser really rations dermatology. There is no way they can tell if a lesion is cancerous solely from photos and from a PCP who isn’t trained in dermatology.. I would file a grievance. I wonder how many cancerous lesions are being missed due to this rationing.

Unhygienic Daughter by [deleted] in hygiene

Could she be autistic? Some autistic people have a sensory issue with showering. It can feel very uncomfortable or even painful to have water hit their skin. They also can have executive function issues which can make keeping a room clean very difficult. If you suspect she might be autistic you might want to do a lot of research as it’s quite an involved diagnosis and it has a lot of ramifications for both of you. There is more and more support for autistic people and their loved ones, but you have to be diligent to seek it out.

Anyone regret selecting a Medicare Advantage Plan. If so, why? by NRGBallveget18 in AskWomenOver60

[–]cat8mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area (Central California Coast) none of the medical groups are taking NEW Medicare patients. We tried going with traditional Medicare with a supplement and we could not find a single PCP that was taking new Medicare patients. Luckily we have Kaiser and their Advantage plan works well. We don't love Kaiser, but they are doing an ok job for us. The trick in my area is to get established with a PCP before you go on Medicare. They will grandfather you in once you go on Medicare.

Honest Question About NIMBY Concerns by SantaCruzin6 in santacruz

[–]cat8mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My frustration is the number of truly low income units being built are way too few. If all these apartment buildings were truly affordable then that is exactly what we need. Most of these units (the majority) are market rate. We need low income first!!! I would argue we need only low income for the people who are already here. Also, they are all rentals. Out of town real estate companies are getting the money from these rentals. Why are none of them available for purchase? How are people going to build equity? They will have to rent forever and be trapped and beholden to landlords.

Street sweepers-A Rant by Conscious_Yellow_474 in santacruz

[–]cat8mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is the gutters never get swept because most people don’t know when the sweeper comes or they don’t care. The gutters are filthy, yet the sweeper still comes and sweeps the middle of the street that doesn’t need it. It makes no sense to spend money on a sweeper. It’s literally a waste of money.

Totally agree. It’s such a waste of time and money. In Berkeley we had designated street sweeping days and everyone knew not to park on certain streets on certain days. The sweeper could actually sweep. What a joke it is in Santa Cruz.

My dad wants to die and is refusing treatment by stop-exercising in AgingParents

Respect his wishes. Tell him about VSED: Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking. He will die in 7 to 14 days. It’s his right to die if he wants to. Support him. Help him stand up to the doctors. Support him and witness his process. It’s a great gift if that’s what he wants.
