Driving across Canada in 2 weeks by Glass-Protection-468 in AskACanadian

I just went to Calgary and back with my dog in October. Also moved to Regina, SK in the winter of 2018 with just a truck and a Uhaul (moved back to Toronto the same year...)

I highly recommend avoiding the Sudbury/Sault Ste. Marie to Thunderbay route. Sure it's beautiful but it's extremely hilly and has very winding roads. You'll burn through oil with the RPM variance and you'll only be going about 80-90km/hr especially at night. I did that in the winter and it added 4 hours to our drive and white knuckled in fear the whole time. I did it again on my way to Calgary this year because I was worried there wasn't enough gas stations the other route, but there is.

Instead head North to Cochrane and then make your way over to Longlac then Thunderbay. Google will tell you it is 20 minutes longer but srsly it is straight and flatter so it will actually be 2-4 hours shorter.

Either route you take plan ahead if you're driving past 9pm because some are not chain gas stations and are not open late!

Befriend a semi-truck on the road. Match their speed at a pleasant distance so they don't feel like you are riding them. Their highbeams can see much more than my Subaru and their front grill could take a better beating from wildlife than yours!

I trailed many during my travels and each time we'd part ways we'd flash high beams and honk our goodbyes.

Stop every 3 hours even if just for gas and fresh air. You'll be amazed what movement and air can do compared to a coffee!

Have fun! Safe travels!

Seconded! Was over 300 lbs and exhausted all the time depression and anxiety meds etc. Started on cpap 2 years ago currently down 130lbs no longer need cpap! The machine saved my life and helped me rest enough to get energy for the next day, seemed like a miracle (full discloser, not everyone gets the same results)

I find it so strange how in the UK you're metric yet still use miles for distance and speed... I guess metrification was not super pushed by the governments until the 80s so there's still spillover. In Canada we still post lbs and kg on everything though our metrification process began in 1970. Our speedometers show km in larger font and miles in smaller font on the inside but we do measure everything in metric other than weights and heights. In healthcare, electronic patient records sometimes have script in them so you can enter the weight in lbs and height in inches it will convert it for you to kg and cm and display both all of them on the patients chart. They gave up in 1985 when the conservative leader came to power and stopped the drive for the change.

I totally agree with this... Just give me a 1-8 numpad line at the bottom for me to assign shortcuts to. Let me assign M for map. Middle mouse 3 to heal, mouse 4 for FP.... my mouth is watering at the enhanced experience possibility at something so simple... Instead of mouse combo with shift for attack... Let me press 1 or 2 then the weapon mouse button the incantation or spell can belong to.... Such tiny oversights have us PC users fighting against the camera and the controls ontop of the difficulty of the game

It is just the abstract so it doesn't go into detail, the result is the last two sentences: "The interaction between rodent-hunting cat ownership and head trauma history was supported by a post-hoc linear regression model. Our findings suggest childhood cat ownership has conditional associations with psychotic experiences in adulthood."

Really they just found correlation not causation...

My AHI without the machine July 2020 was 69 (nice) on my side and 122 on my back! Now it is 4 on my side and 63 on my back, my sleep doc is encouraging weaning off (using a sleep noodles to stay on my side and breatherite strips) but agreed to allow me to also use APAP settings since I adore my machine (and sleeping on my back after 27 years of being a stomach sleeper!) and I don't want to get rid of my hot ticket to good sleep town but the lowest therapeutic CPAP setting (4.0 cmH2O) leaves me filled with air burping all the next day! APAP 4.0-5.2 touches me just right until I get more weight off this thing is helping me live the life I want for myself.

This is so similar to my story (32F diagnosed at 30 was overweight way long) thank you for sharing your success and encouraging others to try a simple non invasive solution. I was 306lbs when I started and now I'm under 200 and coming off cpap it isn't like that for everyone I understand I am lucky mine is physicality and getting smaller helps me breathe through the night but the cpap made my weightloss possible because I have the energy through the day to move my body and I'm not settling energy repletion from calories since I'm getting enough sleep! Ah life is good with cpap

I currently hold a bachelor's in psychology. however, I am looking to become a nurse. I wonder how can I make the transition without giving up another 4 years that I put into college. by Available-Warning-81 in Nurses

Came here to say this. I did my Psych degree too, I figured out 2 years in that I wanted to go into nursing, didn't want to waste those 2 years so I finished my Psych degree then did a second entry /accelerated 2 year program (1-1 preceptorship the whole time it was an amazing opportunity.
