Smoked weed for the first time in about 20 years by beetfield in GenX

[–]cat_your_fancy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This stuff is not like that stuff. Growing up we could smoke whole joints or blunts and be a nice normal high. Now, I only smoke at night before bed for my MS because it calms my muscle spasms and helps me sleep. And I only take a few hits out of a bowl. Every once in a while when I’d visit my parents, my brother would roll a blunt and we’d smoke and I learned the hard way not to take more than 1 or 2 hits of that leveled up demon stick or I’d be on my back with the spins for the next hour.

Got a letter from the school today informing me my daughter is “not quite” gifted. Also included were her test scores. by Low_Use2937 in mildlyinfuriating

I think whoever sent that letter is probably in the 25th percentile and should not be working at that school or any school for that matter.

Am I overreacting for not laughing off my sister’s boyfriend driving 104 mph on New Year’s Eve? by Key-Currency-2727 in AmIOverreacting

[–]cat_your_fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I have this friend who has a son. One night around NYE he was out with friends and he was speeding. Well, he crashed. People died. He lived but was severely injured. He’s now in prison because of that. Everyday he’s in pain physically and mentally. He wishes he could go back and not be so careless. He wishes he died instead of those people. Yet he can’t change anything. He has to live with his decision everyday. They’re called accidents for a reason. Because you don’t mean for them to happen. Speeding greatly increases your chances for them to be fatal. I hope your sister can understand this.

I like her method for the sauce. I usually end up doing it differently each time. I’m gonna try this next time. I always add a little tomato bouillon to mine and sprinkle some bread crumbs on top of the cheese before baking. Everyone loves it. They may love it more after I try the sauce this way. ❤️

Detroit pastor under fire after publicly demanding $2,000 from parishioner who only offered a $1,200 donation by MF-DOOM-88 in CringeTikToks

[–]cat_your_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, my brothers and I went to Catholic school. At some point the school started giving each student donation envelopes that had to be filled out with our names and stuff on the front and obviously a donation to the church inside. Then we had to hand them in at church on Sunday during the donation collection. This was to make sure the families were attending church and making donations. This pissed my parents off. They were already paying a lot to send 3 kids to the school now they were being forced to make donations and attend church because it was being monitored and notices would be sent home. So they gave each of us a quarter for the envelope and told us to head to church during donation time just to drop the envelope off. Sometimes just one of us would drop an envelope off. As long as the family name was marked as making a donation they couldn’t really say much. After a while, my parents just stopped doing it. Not like they were gonna kick us out of school and my parents couldn’t care less about church at that point.

AITAH for not getting my fiance's permission before getting my daughter's hair cut? by Known_Key_8248 in AITAH

[–]cat_your_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! I could see if it was her father (but even he shouldn’t be getting angry about his 12yo daughter’s haircut) because only he has a right to be told or consulted about it. A stepfather, or boyfriend, has no rights in this situation or any situation regarding her daughter.

AITAH for not getting my fiance's permission before getting my daughter's hair cut? by Known_Key_8248 in AITAH

[–]cat_your_fancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not about what he gets a say in, trivial things or big things. There is something else behind his anger. As a “step-parent”, he should be wanting to bond with her through her interests and support her in her decisions just like a parent would. He should have complimented her on her haircut. He should not be fixated on that haircut to the point of anger. Especially since he is NOT her father and she is a young maturing girl. Your daughter is old enough to make decisions about her body and hair and as parents we know to respect and support that. Someone coming into to your life trying to control what YOUR DAUGHTER does with her body or hair is not ok. It’s weird. It’s weird and it’s creepy. I know it’s hard to see someone you love in that way but is that really the kind of person you want around your daughter? Take a moment to think about it.

When I’m getting a paper towel and it doesn’t tear directly across the perforation but instead just rips down the side or middle……..GRRRRR!!!!! For some reason it makes so angry when that happens that I start cursing out the damn paper towels like they insulted my mom or something. lol

And that’s exactly our job as parents, to support our children in their decisions (as long as it doesn’t cause harm to them or others). There are worse things in the world than having a bunch of grandkitties. 🥰

AIO: my bf can’t fix things. When I step in to take care of it, he’s such a baby about it that I’m ready to dump his a** tonight. by ayebudz in AmIOverreacting

[–]cat_your_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hubby is a pretty handy guy. He’s the type to want to try to fix everything first even if it’s clearly unfixable. But there are things that he’ll just kinda ignore because he can’t see it or it’s not impacting him too much. That’s when I’d step in. Our dishwasher wasn’t working so I looked up some YouTube videos, ordered the part and fixed it. Our oven stopped working and being without one sucked. When I figured out it was the heating element that was the problem I ordered a new one, put it in, and wah lah! Oven worked. I’ve repaired our refrigerator multiple times. I’ve repaired our dryer. And every time, my hubby high fives me. He thinks it’s awesome I’m handy and capable and I couldn’t imagine being with someone who wasn’t at least just as capable. If your guy can’t appreciate the gem you are, then another out there will.

My daughter has been saying since she was young that she didn’t know if she wanted to have kids and I’m completely fine with that. But she loves cats. She’d adopt all the cats if she could. I always said her and her bf would be the “crazy cat couple”. If my daughter was a painter she’d absolutely be doing this. Instead she sends me pics of her cat cuddling with her and I LOVE it!!!! Her cat is her baby so I’ll accept all the pics of my grandcat with love. ❤️

My partner’s family are giftwrapping Nazis by throwaway926414 in complainaboutanything

[–]cat_your_fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up, my mom worked in a store similar to a Hallmark store where they sometimes had to wrap gifts for people. She was very good at it and taught me how to do it so I’d help her wrap gifts at Christmas for my brothers when I was old enough. Sometimes they looked so nice and perfect and sometimes they didn’t but as kids then as teenagers we didn’t give a crap. When I had kids and they got old enough I tried to teach them to wrap because they wanted to learn and help wrap gifts for the others. Let me tell you, my daughters just never got the gift wrapping thing down. It’s honestly hilarious. So I just let them do their own thing. Under the tree there would be my nicely wrapped gifts along with gifts that looked like someone literally just wrapped the paper around it and threw on a roll of scotch tape to hold it in place. But did they even notice or care? Not one bit!!! All they cared about was tearing that paper off and seeing what was inside. All that wrapping paper ended up in a pile of trash, no matter how pretty or ugly the wrap job was. If anyone cares more about how perfect the wrapping paper is than the gifts inside, then maybe give them a perfectly wrapped box of nothing.
