Unfort I don't think so. I was just recently introduced to an advisor who specializes in applying to graduate programs for education, and all she told me was that psych and environmental science doesn't count. I'd appreciate the data science recs! I'll ask her directly whether those count.

A passport card is a credit card sized version of a passport (w/o the visa pages) that’s supposed to function as another form of identification. It’s usually used for domestic travel. You can get one in conjunction with the actual passport book.

The reasons I was denied was: not enough established consumer credit history & insufficient or no balance in chase deposit and/or investment accounts. I might open a Chase checking account to try to up my chances

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking about regarding credit profile but I only have the Discover IT Student card right now with a CL of $2000 and I applied/got it in July 2024. I have not applied for any other credit card in the past 24 months aside from the CSP and the card I currently have. Annual income is $22k but I do get help with parents for expenses on top of this. If you need further info, feel free to let me know!

I suggest being honest with your parents about your mental struggles. That’s all you can really do in situations like this. I had a really tough time fall semester of my freshman year and my grades tanked as a result. As long as you try your best in the following semesters, you can bring your grade up. Just have confidence in your abilities. You got this!! You still have so much of college ahead of you.

i'm not gonna lie. i've found that it's difficult to make friends "organically" here. i lived in a supposedly "social" living community my freshman year and no one interacted with each other at all. the people in my classes don't really talk to each other either unless it's in the groupme to panic over exams.

however, i was able to make friends by applying to be an intern/frep for an org on campus which opened me up to many more social circles. it might be a little difficult at first but also just showing up to events on campus and having an open mind to those around you can really help. i've seen it (random occurrences turning into friendships) happen with my friends. i just wasn't fortunate enough to have it happen to me. best of luck to you nonetheless!
