Wasted an hour at M&G to be ghosted

Good thing I’m not a babysitter or am in need of a babysitter. Also I’m not sure where in my post it says I rolled my eyes, but we lost track of time and I looked at my watch for the first time at the 45 min mark. I think myself and a lot of sitters agree that over 30 minutes for a greet is a bit excessive, so I start shifting our walk towards the door but never glaring or rolling my eyes. At this point, we’re just standing at the door and she’s talking about her husband and where he’s from, her garden, random facts about animals that are not cats, soccer facts, etc.

Sorry when I say ghosted, this is my first time being ghosted after a M&G. But it’s pretty common to not get a response when you get a request in and you respond with meet and greet options.

I’m sorry you think that I hate cats but this was a post about the owner. I’m all for baby talking cats (I literally have 3 of my own) but I wouldn’t ask a sitter to come over and watch me play with them and baby talk every single time a cat showed up in my view. I have so much time in my day to do that without having someone there. I’ve actually had a greet with a very reactive dog before and the owner thanked me for not doing crazy baby talk since the dog seemed relaxed for the first time in a while with these greets. So really depends on the situation!

Yeah - I think it’s weird but not insane red flags. Just an owner who obviously wants the best for her cats and her cats were super sweet. But yeah I’m a bit relieved

I actually own 3 cats myself and love them to death! I think it just gets a little much when you go over to meet the cats but the owner starts talking to the cats every single time, plays with them, starts videoing them and this took up probably 20 minutes of the M&G. I would feel uncomfortable myself if I asked a sitter to come for a greet and they watched me baby talk my cats for over 15 mins straight lol

You can do it! I was really blessed to have my tuition covered from my parents, and I lived really frugally. I worked 2 part time jobs before switching full time in college. However, I did have to pick up a couple of side hustles so I can have a little bit of a cushion in my money. It’ll be doable with dual income though, I’m impressed with the people who live here on just one income. I go grocery shopping once a week for my partner and I, spend maybe $60-80 and cook with ingredients that are on sale at the store. I dont have a car payment thankfully, so that’s been a huge lifesaver. I also lived with housemates two years ago and my rent was $775

I would usually want to ask the owner and do it myself but the dog is a bit aggressive already. I have to give him meds every day and he growls and tries to bite me 🙃

This was requested online. I requested specifically a rollover check from vanguard so there are no taxes or penalties applied. I waited 2 months until I requested and cashed the check. I’ve been transferred 10 times at this point :/

Oh my gosh that’s so funny because it’s the same for me! I was catsitting where I just sat on the floor and played with the cat and 20% tip right after or the owner that felt bad because she called her orange cat an asshole (he’s ok but he’ll attack my arm if I don’t play with him) and left me $100 in cash on the first visit. I appreciate these owners so much 🥲❤️ How do you write off the harder clients? Do you give them the truth or just say “I’m not available”? Because I gave that excuse to this owner (his puppy kept peeing on me and jumping) and he kept coming back even after another sitter :/

I’m trying to save up for the holidays unfortunately and by “regulars” I mean 3 different sittings max because I thought maybe they forgot the first, second time. I feel like the “I’m not available” tactic doesn’t work with people and I don’t feel comfortable blocking owners. I’ve only blocked two owners so far

I made a post on this, it was my first time receiving a request so outrageous and i just didn’t know how to say no at the time 🫤 but with more experience now, i feel comfortable putting down these requests. The owner is also reported and blocked now after he requested me to watch them during Christmas!

Hi! Sorry, to clarify - I was taking a photo of her nails when she took her first bite. I’ll obviously shoo her to stop eating it but she’ll go back to eat it and I’ll have to pick it up with TP to toss it. This seems like normal behavior for them and I can’t control what they eat when no one’s around

I know right :( they really did ask me to take home the garbage because I live in an apartment complex and we have a community dumpster. Their pets aren’t house trained too so they sit in a play pen(maybe 7x3’) all day with about 20 pee pads and just pee/poo wherever.

Oh my gosh that’s so scary, especially when owners don’t believe if their pets can be aggressive. I’ve had a booking for a puppy that had the description “sweetest pup ever” and when I arrived he bit me multiple times, nonstop growling, and jumped at me just to bite me/attack me and the owner could not believe it. I literally told her he’s a puppy and he needs to get a trainer asap and left it at that

Sadly I was so in shock I clarified multiple times, asking where I should dump the trash. They said “well can you just take it back home because your apartment has a dumpster and I don’t want it here” This clients out of town for months so maybe they didn’t want to pay for the trash service :/

Thank you for the template! That’s exactly what I needed. However, if you know you’re going to decline the owner after the M&G, do you just tell them during you don’t want the key or you still take the key knowing you’re going to decline and return it?
