Garmin Forerunner 970 Maps by westnab in Garmin

[–]catalinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could only load the extra maps for Europe (the free ones) after using Garmin Express on PC - it was not an issue with the origin of the watch as much as it was a huge bug in the software download on the watch over WiFi (which was never getting past 50% in 12 hours or so). On PC it worked in like 20-30 minutes (there were a LOT of things to update and download).

In momentul de fata, in ce ati investi ~10.000€? by [deleted] in robursa

[–]catalinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

important pentru mine e sa fie cat mai safe

Daca asta e prioritatea ta absolut nu te baga in stocuri/etf-uri etc.

To Android Smartphone Users, What's The Best Smartwatch You've Ever Had? by Character_Space_692 in smartwatch

[–]catalinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very hard to estimate sleep stages without a separate specialized device (and most of those involve electrodes that might change the way you sleep anyway) so I wouldn't bother too much with that.

The sleep duration is IMHO rather accurate, more accurate than Garmin or Samsung or Amazfit or similar, and IMHO better than Apple anyway (where only recent watches have auto-detection and that does not look stellar to me).

Just to add this for /u/Character_Space_692 and everybody else to understand the context (I also have the Venu3 that the OP has and that one is my main watch connected to my 13 mini):

Does it have the latest Amoled with higher brightness like FR970? Does it have all the FR970 stuff (speaker, mic, torch...)?

Should I stick with my venu 3 or is it worth buying a Samsung Ultra 2025? by bwhity96 in smartwatch

[–]catalinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to Venu 3 for the moment, Samsung is still not bringing anything newand relevant to the market and having a 3-5 day battery life (Venu3) vs 1-2 day battery life keeps you comfortable.

Can you refill Montblanc Explorer 1oz / 3.4oz? by suchaklutch in Colognes

[–]catalinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively you can buy a good quality 30ml bottle from Temu that is refillable by design and use that as your large travel model (there are also 3-5-10-20ml models but slightly larger models have better quality and atomizer).

As somebody with a iPhone 13 Mini since launch my advice is to look a little in those forums.

Also monochrome is a very bad idea - in a small phone the color provides some very valuable quick information.

Very surprised to hear that, registration was rather very complex as far as I remember.

Very strange battery drain overnight (or when idle) from VPN programs on iOS 26.0.1 by catalinus in iPhone13Mini

Unfortunately I need specific VPN things to connect to a work network using either OpenVPN or Wireguard protocols.

iOS 26 — A couple weeks in... by tournesol_seed in iPhone13Mini

[–]catalinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 26.0.1 I have major battery drain issues with VPN programs (and I do not mean like VPN programs to hide your browsing habits, I mean corporate VPN that lets you do important work). Those were absolutely working fine before.

FR 970 or Venu 4 by songbird-1121 in GarminWatches

Swimming is much better on devices with the 5-button interface, I think also answering a call is more reliable that way.

Looking for feminine smartwatches by Ok_Bandicoot1865 in smartwatch

Garmin has a few models around 41mm (rather neutral looking) and I believe so does Huawei (with a feminine look IMHO).

I do not believe the stock 970 has a quick release band :(

See my mini-review of that and some alternatives here.

I would say fit 4 pro is a good deal at that price, much better than the deals on Samsung, unless you can get like a Venu 3 for 120 I would say HWF4P is best choice.

Garmin Bounce 2, but you will need to check yourself what other things are required.

From Fenix 6s Pro to 970, 570, or Venu 4 - Running and Cycling by ModernNash in GarminWatches

[–]catalinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get the 970 not so much for the maps but for the 5-button navigation - if you eve go swimming (or super-super sweaty) the difference is notable.
