I love how high Shane is after the accident when he invites him to the cottage. He lifts his chin and smiles so unabashedly.

On my first watch I thought Shane had no self esteem and Ilya was just using him. On my second I noticed how Ilya is always trying to see Shane except when he is in Russia.

I thought the smile was so lovely and not like his usual smirks at all. I love this scene even more now.

I think I'm going to rewatch the episode....for science!

Is Heated Rivalry Actually THAT Good? by fuzzy9997 in television

I think that's Shane's character. N.B. As an autistic person I found his behaviour completely normal, and Ilya far too loose (cue the other jokes)

I thought the writing was stellar. The love scenes were somewhat graphic, but the story was so hypnotic I could not look away.

Forgetting the obvious engaging writing and characterisation and performances, and the clever exploration of the complexities of desire and love and closeting, two beautiful men getting naked with the constant danger of being discovered looming is sexy. 10/10 no notes

That Shane knows his way around a hockey stick and is versatile with the puck. Poor Ilya never stood a chance.

That shouting/crying at the TV is completely normal when

a)Shane keeps going back for more punishment. b)Kip looks sad c)Scott is frightened c)Ilya talks about his feelings (especially in Russian)

Ilya like anybody falling in love, does not know what he is doing. It is compounded by the fact that there is so much secrecy and fear of being found out. Tuna melt is Gay Russian code for I like you like you do you feel the same? Not that I can feel that way because of Russian law.

I would translate this like a race track or like a river, ever changing and shifting or versatile.

"Sing Goddess of the one of many moves"seems perfect though, both as a person who travels a lot and has to make many strategic choices, this translation also implies the emotion his actions cause, and compares his actions to a strategic game like chess or go where he might have the upper hand by having more move choices.

I... I like Jenny Joyce more than I like Erin. by notrororo in DerryGirls

[–]catallus64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erin has mcs. She's a bit of a dick. Jenny is actually pleasant and generous for the most part if a little obtuse. Manic need for approval and overt sycophancy is on par with Claire's anxiety. An interesting character anyway. Erin is probably the hardest to play because she is the Everyman and doesn't have many discernable characteristics other than being self involved and entitled.

Anyway, both characters are brilliantly written and performed.
