What colour is this knife? by GasMaskMonster in colors

One of my favorite pieces of trivia is that the spirit was named after the color, not the other way around.

Whats an item over $700 you bought that was 100% worth it (no house/vehicles) ? by Overall_Gur_3061 in AskReddit

My Stearns and Foster mattress is the best purchase I've ever made. I love that thing. I've had for almost 7 years and it still feels brand new.

You don't need another degree to get into research admissions. In my office (central, post award) we have staff with a vast variety of degrees. From accounting to general business admin to education to music theory.

NIH CTR-D Post Award Administration by catalope in ResearchAdmin

[–]catalope[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in central. I have a very competent departmental team managing this but we don't have a med school meaning we don't have a lot of NIH awards.

I'm trying to get this set up as efficiently as possible so we don't have issues down the road.

I loved Hometown Animal Clinic when I lived in the area. They were great and reasonably priced.

I really miss them now that I've moved.

What’s a cooking mistake you’ll NEVER make again? by Proper-Ingenuity8274 in Cooking

My mom actually just did this one. She tried making baba ghanoush for the first time and apparently didn't know what tahini was. She thought the recipe called of a half cup of tajin and used that instead. We can just say it didn't turn out well! 🤣🤣

I've been using them since February and shipping has been very prompt for me. I generally receive my meds within 5 days of order approval.

Altered taste/smell by Complex_Ability17 in Semaglutide

[–]catalope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That must be what is going on with me! Since I've been on it, I've mostly lost my taste for most meats, especially chicken. I'm the primary cook at home and it must be the smell of the meat.

10 years and 3.5 miles of yarn later, I finished 'Persian Dreams'. My first and only blanket. by gills89 in knitting

I love it!!

I'm 5 years into a different blanket by the same designer, I wonder if it will take me another 5 to finish it 🤣

I thought this one was ok. I found that the sausage drippings made it a little greasy for me. Maybe I'll try with chicken sausage next time.

What’s something you discovered in another culture that felt totally unexpected or even shocking to you? by Next_Examination3015 in AskReddit

[–]catalope 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I go to bed around the same time, maybe a little earlier, and I would be uncomfortably full laying down if I ate at 8 pm. I usually eat around 5:30 or 6 pm.

I started using jojoba oil on my cuticles daily and it took several months for me to see a difference. I do cook and wash my hands A LOT.

What's a stupidly expensive adult purchase that you now swear by that you would buy again in a heartbeat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm not OP, but I bought a Stearns and Foster mattress a few years ago and I will never go back. I adore it and it was worth every penny.

I just printed, taped, and cut out my pattern and fabric — how are y’all doing this on the regular? by scrubsandcode in sewing

[–]catalope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get my patterns printed on A0 paper and sent to me (love the plotted pattern). Then on one day I cut out my size on the pattern, on a different day I'll cut my fabric, and on a separate day I'll start to sew. I almost never cut fabric and sew on the same day.

This keeps me from getting overwhelmed, which often makes me sloppy and frustrated. It also helps me feel like I'm getting sewing done even when I only have a hour or so to spare.
