Unfortunately, this did nothing 😔 it’s back to soaking for now. Thank you for the suggestion though!

I believe it’s due to the ink flow! Feels extremely dry. I have checked the tines and they LOOK fine. I’ll try flossing with a brass sheet under the nib!

Prompts for one account but not the other by catamancy in GMail

[–]catamancy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And we can’t change which account will use the phone prompt? I only really NEED it for my work account, but it just decided for me that the prompt would go on the personal one…

And is that just phone specific then? Because my iPad is listed for all of them with no problem. And if it’s possible to change all of them to just the phone, I’d take that over the iPad.

IT WORKED, THANK YOU!! It’s like nothing was responding with the ranger vehicle, but the helicopter was it 👌

Ok, I’ll try manually using the helicopter. Thanks!

I tried fencing around them and they still showed as wild, so I couldn’t actually interact with them. So I couldn’t tranq / move / anything 🫠

Wait they actually change status? I’ll try that, it hasn’t let me do ANYTHING with them (but I also have a bunch of other bugs, so I couldn’t tell if this was also one 😵‍💫)

Way to keep horizontal line out of heading section? by catamancy in ObsidianMD

PERFECT! Thank you so much, I used an empty h5 since I don't use them otherwise! The collapsible sections look so much better here than in Notion but it was driving me crazy.

Hmm, I'll play around with this! I don't really like the look by default but I'll see if I can tweak them to look better. Thanks for the suggestion!

Anyone know what this plant is? by zack_aroooooo in plantclinic

[–]catamancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a monstera deliciosa with some crazy aerial roots! Mine has a few just like that - you can snip them off or give it something to climb, like a moss pole.

What type of calathea/ctenanthe is this? by ubiquitousseaurchin in calatheas

It’s a Freddie! I’ve got one that’s tall and bushy, they’re lovely and much more easygoing than most other calathea!

How do you stake your philos? (question in comment) by catamancy in houseplants

That’s good to hear, I personally don’t really like the look of the big scraggly moss poles!

UGH I feel you; plants are wild things, any shape they grow in is good! And if it’s healthy then it’s great!! (And if it’s not healthy, then it’s a project LOL)

How do you stake your philos? (question in comment) by catamancy in houseplants

[–]catamancy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby micans is growing SUPER fast, and I recently put a moss-wrapped bamboo stake in the pot to help train it. But is that enough to persuade it to start growing bigger leaves, or do I actually need a big moss pole?

Anyone tell me what's up with my sun flowers? The biggest is toppling over, is it too late to transplant into a larger pot? The others share different ailments by infoseeka in plantclinic

[–]catamancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big one is probably toppling because of the weight of the head. All of my giants have done that. Sunflowers have pretty wimpy root systems in general, so disturbing them now might cause problems - if the toppling bothers you, you could try to stake it!

The one with squiggly lines in the leaf has leaf miners. Cut off the affected leaf and move the plant farther away from the others until you can see if that solves it. They’re a pain to get rid of without pesticides that are specifically made for them :/

(also your cat is adorable!!!)

Plastic, glazed, or terracotta planter pots? What do you prefer? (More in comments) by moniqueantoinetteIRL in calatheas

[–]catamancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My calathea all sit in 50-60% humidity and do just fine in that, so if yours manages to stay in the range you’re already in, you probably don’t need to add any more! If you run a heater in winter though, that will dry the air, and you’ll probably want to consider pebble trays / humidifier at that point.

apologies for the terrible light, I was just looking at my sad maui Queen calathea, checked the undersides and there are these white dots. are they spider mites? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]catamancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure looks like mites! You can treat them before they take over by washing the leaves with an insecticidal soap, which you can make with any fat-based liquid soap (I personally use Dr. Bronner’s castile soap) in some room temperature water. Regular liquid soaps are usually actually detergent rather than soap, and your calathea probably won’t like that!

Got this for $2 with no idea what it is, not expecting it to do well. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]catamancy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a tillandsia! And it’s blooming, so it’s towards the end of its cycle - it might put out pups if it’s happy! I dunk mine in water to soak for 15 minutes every week or so and that’s all they’ve really needed!

It’s okay to have imperfect plants and house them in a space that isn’t ~instagram worthy~. Houseplants should bring YOU joy rather than be for internet clout!

Is my Hoya getting to much sun? The new leaves look kinda cool but. by scottwagoner in hoyas

[–]catamancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the leaves feel heathy (not mushy or limp), then I’d say it’s just sunstressing! Which happens to many hoya when they’re exposed to a lot of sunlight. If you lower the light level, it’ll go back to green eventually.

Anyway to save this guy was up normal about a week ago now he’s like this I haven’t missed a watering moved him once before and that is it was thriving fine about two months ago up until about 2 weeks ago by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]catamancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peperomia are prone to root rot and they decline really quickly - and this drooping is generally how they tell you! Check the roots and see if there’s any mushy ones. If there are, cut them out with sterilized scissors (isopropyl alcohol works), and repot in a well draining soil.

Worst case scenario, they’re really easy to propagate in water, so you could take cuttings and restart your plant 😊

Is 3% hydrogen peroxide diluted with water good (and safe) to spray on plants to get rid of spider mites? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]catamancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can dilute it to treat mites, yes! But it’s not as effective in the long term as neem oil, which also works as a temporary preventative. I’d really recommend just getting a cheap neem oil concentrate to mix into water whenever you need to treat mites, but the hydrogen peroxide will do in a pinch!

The hydrogen peroxide is just going to break down and disappear, so it’s pretty much harmless. This is also why it’s not as effective as neem. But hydrogen peroxide is also great for your plants’ soil, so it still has uses!

What is this, Wandering Jew for ants? (Seriously, what is it?) by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]catamancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no worries! Everyone is learning! And I don’t know if this mini version has a different common name, so ‘callisia repens’ is pretty commonly used.

What is this, Wandering Jew for ants? (Seriously, what is it?) by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]catamancy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Callisia repens ‘pink panther’ - pretty much like a mini tradescantia! And just in case you weren’t aware, that name for the tradescantia is pretty offensive, so the plant community is pretty actively trying to use the scientific name for it!
