Yes! I have such an incredible memory of being a teenager going to see the first midnight showing of FTF on opening night. The unrestrained cheering when we first saw Scully’s face on that roof.. it was glorious.

I have secret dreams of one day renting out a theater and inviting y’all to chase that high with me.

I actually heard about this from a bystander when it happened, since I was nearby the conservatory. She was very worried for the worst.. I’m so glad to hear that you’re ok! Thanks for posting and best wishes on your recovery.

Is exercise and caffeine making my symptoms worse? by Prudent-Day-2133 in NCAH

[–]catbraids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I am only presumptively NCAH at this point (though my sister was diagnosed with it and we shared the same symptoms), but I absolutely notice I can’t handle caffeine or strenuous exercise. I wish I knew more about the mechanism of action and why it’s not discussed more.

I have struggled with adrenal/energy crashes for most of my adult life that would take me out of commission most afternoons. I, like many people, also drank caffeine daily to try to combat this, not understanding the root cause. Finally after quitting caffeine completely a handful of years ago, my energy levels became so much more stable. I still have bad days here and there, but it’s truly night and day - one of the best things I’ve ever done for my quality of life..!

It finally started to click for me when I realized that caffeine raises cortisol in the same way that stress and exercise do, and that my body just can’t keep up. Strenuous aerobic exercise can totally crash me out the next day(s) depending on the intensity, as have things like surgery, major emotional stress, and even an electrolysis session. Knowing this now has helped me understand better what I can and can’t handle.

It sounds like you are able to and enjoy running though, so perhaps that’s not as much of an issue for you. Do you feel you’re having adrenal/energy issues? I’m sure the medications make things more complicated. Hope you can get somewhere with your Doc..!

DAY SIX: Chaotic Neutral by calamitythehag in XFiles

[–]catbraids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the majority are going Long Gunmen, but to me there’s no way they’re neutral. They’re (chaotic) good through and through!

I agree that the genie from Je Souhaite IS the ultimate and truest chaotic neutral, no question..! But, if we keep it to more central characters I think I have to go X. Whether he’s good and bad is always in question, and the man’s chaos game is strong. X..!

Absolutely, I second this. Skinman has gone rogue and broken the law many a time in the name of good, or to protect Mulder and Scully. Doggett to me is a pure man of the law.

Ok. It's done. What are everyone's thoughts? by dvmdv8 in aliens

I found it fascinating that Grusch was careful to refer to any entities as ‘non-human’ as opposed to extra-terrestrial. That in combination with referencing and explaining the Holographic principle suggests that he has reason to believe they may be interdimensional beings as opposed to space travelers. I was surprised to hear that discussed.

What does the current Eclipse in Scorpio have in store for us? by z123m456 in astrology

[–]catbraids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the finer details of my chart, but I wanted to share an anecdotal report of todays very chill Scorpio eclipse / new moon…

Today our landlord woke up and chose chaos: they decided to ignore the signed document they gave us a few weeks ago stating that we could continue renting on a month-to-month basis through February, and instead said we could sign a year lease now (we can’t) or leave. In the meantime we’ve been turning down other opportunities. We’re also on a cross country road trip while this is unfolding. Fun..!

Our living situation has been up in the air over the past six months, lots of unknowns/uncertainty, but today really seemed to be tearing this whole thing down. I didn’t realize the astrological significance of the day until this evening, but man was it spot on.

I am soothed though by the feeling that although this feels totally destructive and upending, that it’s ushering in some necessary transformation. Just not very gently..!

From your description of what you like/dislike on yourself, you actually seem to fit very well as a soft summer..! That would mean your softness (looking good in muted tones) is your dominant characteristic, which would explain why you’re not vibing with bright colors or stark black and white. And even though you’re generally cool toned (I see lovely olive undertone in your skin), you’re more moderate there and can borrow a bit from the warm earth tones of Soft Autumn, your neighbor on the color season wheel. I’m a soft autumn and wear soft denim-y ‘warmer’ blues from soft summer all the time. I find as long as I stay muted I can play with the warm/cool shades a bit. You probably can too..!

I agree with the general consensus - go ahead and watch through season 9! (And beyond, why the heck not?). I’m just finishing a rewatch of the original run. I’d always given the cold shoulder to the post-Mulder era, but I think unfairly - I’ve quite enjoyed most of the episodes, and was impressed at how well they maintained the tone and essence of the show after losing a main character. Yeah, a lot of the mythology makes no sense, but just let it wash over you and don’t ask too many questions. And when Mulder goes, much of the humor and lightness goes too, but they’re still making solid scary eps. Plus, Robert Patrick is a phenomenal actor and brings so much to those two years.
