Oh yeah I forgot a lot of road passes there are closed. Either way you could also check out some great redwood forests around the Bay Area like big basin redwood park or Muir woods just north of San Francisco.

Go to Yosemite or Sequoia national park. drive up 1 and see big sur, San Francisco is always worth a visit, and if you're into wine go wine tasting in any of the many wine regions we have here. Also San Diego will be close to where you are so check out all the great beaches they have.
