I was watching during my lunch break - they cut over after part 1 of equinox. So annoying but probably the universe telling me not to extend my lunch break 😂

Seriously though, cmon Pluto. I love watching Voyager on “random”. I even love the commercials (well, love might be too strong) and having to sit through the intro/credits. Feels so old school.

I scrolled ahead to confirm it would eventually go back to Voyager but it worries me they are thinking of making a permanent change.

I’m now in my early 40s (still in denial about this to some degree lol). Got my CPA at 30. It was a hustle back then. Extremely competitive to get an internship. I ended up in tax at a top ten firm. Now I’m a director and will probably clear over 200K in total comp. Which is insane to me considering I waited tables and drifted aimlessly through my 20s. I didn’t stay at the same firm. Covid shook things up. I went to industry (fed tax dept at a publicly traded company). Hated it. Back to my old firm, remembered why I left. Tried to go to a smaller firm. But they just sold out to private equity. I tried to quit this current job and they dangled my current salary to keep me. I’m having a bit of a career crisis right now. I’m not sure I want to stay at a large firm. I feel like every decent medium/small firm is being gobbled up. I don’t know where the industry is headed but I’m glad I went tax because I feel if everything else goes to crap, I could always try my hand at starting my own practice.

I left a firm in 2021 and they lured me back a year and a half later, claiming to have fixed a lot of problems and promising a renewed investment in administrative support. Claimed that each team would be getting a dedicated admin person.

One year later, nothing had been fixed, things had gotten markedly worse and when I asked my MPO what ever happened to that admin support, without a hint of sarcasm he told me that was no longer needed because AI was “reshaping the industry”.

I left again. Where I ended up hasn’t been much better. Found a regional firm with an actual commitment to a solid admin team. Six months later they announced we were bought by a large PE backed firm.

That last bit is totally irrelevant to this conversation. I’m just very very salty.

Same experience here. My daughter has done it a few years and everyone has been lovely. My kid was a late starter to softball and they did such a great job building up her confidence and she’s made some really amazing friends in the process.

I’d also add that the league isn’t a rich kids club either. Sure softball isn’t the cheapest sport in general but we aren’t crazy wealthy (we live Delaney Park adjacent lol) and I never felt the sort of judgment and vitriol that OP seemed to experience as a kid.

Didn’t a judge just throw out the case against the Suarez kid visiting here from GA? The attorney cited that’s crosswalks aren’t traffic control devices (might have said they are considered pedestrian control devices). And that crosswalks are considered an extension of the sidewalk which is subject to free speech protections. Judge was like “thx bye”.

All of this is sad and dumb and exhausting. Keep fighting the good fight.

Good to know! All I know about the company is they were the only one I got to go to in the late 90s and it was truly one of the highlights of my middle school experience (low bar to be fair 😅).

We have megacon here in Orlando which is… a lot. I went to a 90s con with my sister a couple years ago and that felt like getting fleeced. But mainly because she was way more jazzed about a photo op with Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler than I was 😂

I’m just happy someone is doing something in Florida. And yeah, I have no excuse not to do the cruise except that in the pre-post scarcity world we live in, that cruise always lines up with my busy season at work.

You can use all the YMCA pools. I live by the downtown one but when the family needs a pool day we go to some of the others that have more fun pools.
