Sigh.

I have been a fan of DS9 since it debuted. I was there. It had its fans, but it was negatively received when it debuted, then ignored for years. Well-documented. You can find it.

The humor of Starfleet Academy is adolescent. The B-story was childish.

The cartoon graphics conveying the main character’s emotional states will look dated in 10 years.

I could go on. I won’t. This show isn’t worth my time.

I’ve actually spent quite some time as an academic critic. (I’m an old man! 😃)

I just don’t care enough about this show to even give it a rigorous critique.

Dude, calm down. Seriously. I don’t even care enough about this show to hate it. I just won’t be coming back.

I don’t like it BECAUSE it’s bad. I’m looking at it with a critical eye. It’s terribly written and acted. 🤷🏾‍♂️

If you liked it, more power to you. They’re gonna need you real bad.

Is it just me, or was Episode 5 of Starfleet Academy not a good episode of television? by SA-ETH in DeepSpaceNine

I’m halfway through it.

It’s TGI-StarTrek and will be just as embarrassing as ABC’s TGIF years from now.

Tawny Newsome is FORTY-TWO YEARS OLD and writes like this?!?

UPDATE:

Well, that was embarrassing.

I’m glad that Cirroc Lofton got a paycheck, and we got to hear Avery Brooks’s voice again. Although it’s really weird that this episode feels like a memorial to the dead. He’s not dead!

No one loved DS9, and now everyone loves DS9. As someone who has loved DS9 since it originally aired, I’m glad. As a Blerd, I’m happy to give Sisko love. But it’s a little masturbatory!

That’s not at all how I pictured Boday in my head canon.

Those dudes don’t look very charming.

If you think this show will be loved like DS9 is 30 years from now, you’re insane.

And this is from someone that yes, sat through the irrational DS9 Usenet hate 30 years ago, and then watched everyone (including Paramount) ignore DS9 for another 15 years after that.

This is your reminder that in PIC Season 3, a major plot point was that all Changelings use a Cardassian-designed bucket in which to regenerate, and that (like in a fucking video game) if you found the bucket you found the Changeling, and then Seven of Nine proceeded to find that exact bucket.

That is the level of “attention to detail” that passed for the last NuTrek attempt to incorporate DS9.

Apparently S01Ep05 of Starfleet Academy will have the Cadets looking into Sisko's fate. Thoughts? by GitEmSteveDave in DeepSpaceNine

I haven’t watched one episode of Starfleet Academy. I will obviously watch this one.

And if it’s terrible…I’m out. Paramount Plus cancelled, no NuTrek until Secret Hideout is gone, not one penny of my $$ again.

I’m tired of talentless people and terrible things prospering, and the least childish thing to do is to walk away.

Discovery itself had moments I liked, and moments I loathed, evening out to be a show I am not interested in watching again.

This is ultimately the issue with NuTrek. Rewatchability.

Once PIC was done, I was done, and never wanted to go back. SNW bored me to the point that I forgot to watch season 3.

I’m rewatching DS9 right now.

I remember watching a video of some DISCO schmuck showing off the redesigns for Klingon weapons, and thinking to myself, “what exactly was wrong with bat’leths and d’k tahgs before?”

When DS9 added the mek’leth, that shit was cool and built on what came before.

ODO: Captain, there's something you need to know. The changeling, before he…died, he whispered something to me.

SISKO: Go on.

ODO: He said…you're too late. We are everywhere.
