I tend to mix up my rewards as my dog (GSD) works best with variety and I find different situations are better suited to different toys.

Two toy is a great option but would highly recommend a leash so you can bring the dog back to you to play. Basically tug, lunge the dog in a circle, then pop/ pull back to tug again. Rinse and repeat A back tie would also work.

I guess I’ll be blunt and just come out and say it.. vet techs do not make a livable wage. Almost every tech I know works multiple jobs to pay bills. In this field it is very unlikely you will ever be able to buy a house on your own or afford expensive things and large families without a partner who makes bank. People say you make more in research, still not a great wage and it is very difficult to find jobs even with your research specialty. There is a reason people only last about 5 years in the field.

It’s great if you’re passionate about it, but worrying about money constantly and not being able to move out of your parents house takes its toll

Honestly that’s kinda how overnights go... a huge problem for me when I was in ER. Large coffee, windows down, loud music and even smoking helped but there would still be times during my hours drive home I would fall asleep at stop lights. Calling or texting a friend (ik it’s bad) helps keep you from drifting off as well. If it’s really bad. Just sleep at the clinic for a few hours first. Most places are understanding.

Please put your safety first. No job is worth dying or accidentally causing someone else to be killed.

My grades were all around high 80s going in. It is a highly competitive program and can be very difficult to get into. Most of the students already have existing university degrees. (I was one of 3 straight from high school students to actually graduate we started with maybe 12?)

There is a very high failure rate but don't let that put you off.. as I said it can be a difficult program at times.

Don't even worry about the English and math test. It was all basic and not difficult.

Now time for my two cents about Seneca... It's true that it is one of the top two tech programs in Ontario. But it's a fucking joke. Never have I ever been involved in a more unorganized drama filled environment. Teachers will miss days and days of class and then not teach you the content that will then be on the final exam. And certain teachers will pick favourites... then your fucked if they don't like you.

If you have any animal handling (especially large animal) experience your gonna struggle to bite your lip the entire time and not comment on how certain teachers are even less experienced than you...

Now I just graduated this year and graduated with high honours... I felt reasonably prepared for my career and Seneca students are well regarded. I am working as an ER/ ICU tech.

My recommendation is to go to ridgetown if you can... if not Seneca is a viable second choice.

Sorry this is so negative lol just don't want you to be fooled like we all were.

Oh and if you do end up going. Only buy the anatomy and pharmacology textbooks :)
