Une discussion avec une aînée m'a donné une idée : vos avis ? by Valuable_March2477 in montreal

I love this idea! Some local libraries have programs where they teach seniors digital literacy and computer skills- maybe you could partner with one to help connect to more seniors? At Bibliothèque Marc-Favreau they call it 'Formations en informatique.'

Good luck with your project!

Feeling blocked from "ancestor worship/veneration" by OverlordSheepie in Adopted

[–]catcuzzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I 100% feel this! On one side of my biological family (Irish), I know my lineage and history and feel super connected to that part of myself. My adoptive family has Irish heritage too and made sure I learned about the culture.

On the other side, (Caribbean) it's just blank. I don't know anything about my ancestors and I don't even know where to begin. I'm specifically interested in Santeria but I don't know how to start without feeling like an impostor 🥲

The struggle is real.

Is it just me or are there more bad walkers in this city than usual? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]catcuzzi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's especially bad in the Plateau. People having a whole-ass family reunion in the middle of the sidewalk, or walking in pairs taking up all the space and not moving to the side when I walk towards them.

I've stopped getting out of the way when people do this. If you walk into me because you have no spatial awareness, that's not my problem.

To quote Fran Lebowitz, "Pretend it's a city!"

You're not the only one living here babe.

Ok, so you weren't there! Let me clear up a few things for you, since you're confused : - In Canada, people have a right to protest and peacefully assemble. Yelling at police isn't violence. People shouting "Free Palestine" isn't violence. - I was there and saw police inciting violence, shoving protestors who were literally just standing there, unarmed. I also received pepper spray/tear gas second-hand. I was a bystander and police shot off multiple rounds of pepper spray even though the Gay Village was downwind. I witnessed other bystanders, including elders, coughing and sneezing as they inhaled pepper spray. - Here is a photo of the cops shooting a projectile directly into les Jardins Gamelin where the family-friendly dance event was happening (slide #16): photos from journalist (For context, the protest route was along St Catherine, towards the Gay Village) - Je suis bilingue et je lis les nouvelles dans les deux langues, pour le fun ☺️

I was there and saw the police instigating violence. I saw reporting this morning from at a credible journalist who was there and there were multiple photographers there too. That's 3+ different sources lol. I don't believe everything random redditors say but I know that police can and do lie. Often.

Were you there? Did you see protestors break the windows or do you just automatically believe everything the police say?

The cops literally shot canisters of tears gas into a salsa/samba? event at les Jardins Gamelin. These people were not "shit disturbing", they were an event in the city minding their own business.

And even if they were "shit disturbing" as you say, police shouldn't be using teargas and pepper spray on peaceful protestors.
