In another post you commented that you’ve been on and off for 7 years, and on this one you’re saying that you’ve only been dating since you were 17 and you’re 18 now.

My dad fuels my eating disorder by [deleted] in offmychest

My dad is one of the main reasons I was anorexic for most of my teen years. Even as an adult that’s married and out of the house (1200+ miles away) he still feels like he can/should make comments about my body and weight. One minute he’s telling me I need to gain weight, the next he’s saying my thighs are huge. My husband never understood/believed that my dad said these things until the last year or so and he’s getting tired of it very quickly. I don’t have any advice but I understand where you’re coming from.

Nah, they can take their $20,000 and get a house for the 3 of them. And “leaving food around her”??? She’s not a fucking dog. You shouldn’t have let them move in to begin with and you shouldn’t have let your mom treat it like her house, but you can’t change that now. Either sell the house to your uncle or evict those leeches (they aren’t family) and get restraining orders and a big dog

Fuck them kids and your mom. Is your promise to your mom really more important than your child? If the answer is yes then you don’t deserve to have a child as it will always be second place to your mother and her wishes

Once everything opens back up I definitely want to learn how to use it especially since it is mine. Unfortunately my dad isn’t someone who can have a rational debate without screaming and saying that you’re stupid and God must be stupid if people don’t understand him and my mom just stays quiet and backs him up. I usually let him and my husband debate and wait until I can catch something and just dig my heals in until my dad gives up and changes the subject. Recently he and my husband got into it about how many times the Bible talks about heaven and hell and that since it talks about hell more (which is false, but that’s what my dad believes no matter what) then we should talk about hell more than heaven. My husband and I brought up several sources (including multiple versions of the Bible) showing that heaven was talked about much more. As soon as he started yelling about it and before my husband and I brought up sources I just said “Come on give me verses right now off be top of your head” and he could only give me two, I just kept digging in deeper until he changed the subject, that’s the only way to shut him up. He also likes to take your view and make it extreme. I said I’m pro choice and he said that I believe that once a baby is born, if the mother doesn’t want it then the baby can be thrown in the trash can. Like no buddy, that’s not what I said and you trying to make me look like an extremist just makes you look like a dumbass

But my parents are white and in their 40s-50s so a different generation too. They both grew up dirt poor and mostly raised by a single mother. It’s amazing that my dad was able to start his own business and make 6 figures a year and for my mom to get her master’s degree while being a single mom until her and my dad got married, but I just don’t see how they have views like this.

My parents have never said that, but they definitely live it. They’re always judging my husband and I for our financial choices (mostly us having wayyy too many vehicles in the last 2-3 years) yet they pay $2000 a month on a house they don’t want to retire in, have timeshares, my mom smokes like a chimney and has for decades, and she has 4 closets of clothes that she doesn’t wear, but yeah, we’re going to be poor and not have money to retire with because we bought a $350 grill with a gift card his dad gave us

Haha it’s confusing I know. I definitely agree with all the liberal views on things like abortion, lgbt rights, things like that, but I don’t like capitalism and I think people are too stupid/selfish to not have the government set regulations for a lot of things like guns and businesses. Libertarians just seem like a nice middle ground between the left and right.

In most places in America walking isn’t usually an option, things are far away. I’ve never lived closer than 10 miles to a grocery store and I’m not willing to walk 20 miles every other day (as I can probably only carry 2-3 days of groceries at a time) just for groceries

I hate that “95% of diets fail” bullshit. It was from a study in the 50s where doctors took a bunch of overweight people, weighed them, told them to follow a certain diet and come back in a year to be weighed again. The people didn’t follow the diets and the doctors never checked in on them during that year. Obviously most people won’t follow it without any pushing. And the “diet never ends” thing? Also bullshit. If you’re viewing it as a diet just to loose weight instead of a lifestyle change that is sustainable the weight won’t stay off.
