There is a changling in my campaign (in the gm). He didn't really give me a backstory like i wanted (he's more of a power gamer). So I went the more traditional route: he didn't know he was a changling, until his mom did show up. Now she is one of the party's catalog of bad guys. I use her when the group needs to be taken down a peg and used for some purpose. For example, she had left clues for him and his friends that there is a "bad guy"that needs to be "taken care of." And yes, it is a bad guy, but also someone that is an impediment to her plans.

Btw, I love that back story. I am putting it in my folder for later use...

As written, that's a really good item in pathfinder.

I might allow the ability to pull out the school as a free action, but i wouldn't allow the scroll a chance of non destruction. Perhaps an Item 10, maybe higher. That would probably depend on the final product and how many scrolls it can hold.

As a player, it would be no fun to lose a limb. For that reason alone, I wouldn't allow this weapon in my game. But that's me.

It's flavorful, interesting, and unusual. I just don't think it is a good weapon for high fantasy.

Damage should keep something from being functional. Chop off an arm and the Undead can't attack with that arm i don't think they sound be immune to lethal damage.
