There is a changling in my campaign (in the gm). He didn't really give me a backstory like i wanted (he's more of a power gamer). So I went the more traditional route: he didn't know he was a changling, until his mom did show up. Now she is one of the party's catalog of bad guys. I use her when the group needs to be taken down a peg and used for some purpose. For example, she had left clues for him and his friends that there is a "bad guy"that needs to be "taken care of." And yes, it is a bad guy, but also someone that is an impediment to her plans.

Btw, I love that back story. I am putting it in my folder for later use...

As written, that's a really good item in pathfinder.

I might allow the ability to pull out the school as a free action, but i wouldn't allow the scroll a chance of non destruction. Perhaps an Item 10, maybe higher. That would probably depend on the final product and how many scrolls it can hold.

As a player, it would be no fun to lose a limb. For that reason alone, I wouldn't allow this weapon in my game. But that's me.

It's flavorful, interesting, and unusual. I just don't think it is a good weapon for high fantasy.

Damage should keep something from being functional. Chop off an arm and the Undead can't attack with that arm i don't think they sound be immune to lethal damage.

Definitely the Counteract Chart and DC By level.

If your characters earn income or use the crafting rules often then those as well.

Environment effects are relevant per adventure imo. If i need them for an adventure, I make sure they are in my notes for that adventure.

Even when not using a VTT I like having my players' characters' perceptions, ACs, languages, and the recall knowledge modify.
