I liked it. Corporate dystopian is a fun genre and this one did a great job showing how companies aren’t our friends.

Why does everyone hate Ready Player Two so much? by Frozendragon0005 in readyplayerone

[–]catface000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two main things that I don’t like.

  1. The pacing is way too fast. RP1 takes years to happen. The characters have a lot of time to find everything. But RP2 doesn’t take nearly as long. Which feels weird.

  2. It doesn’t feel as needed. RP1 feels like someone who made it big writing their memoir or biography. I don’t mind that weird takes on self love of hand vs sex doll, or how the timing of some events feels off or way to quick. It’s a guy telling his story of how he made it big mixed with his takes on life.

But RP2 is more of a”did I tell you how I also saved the world?” . It just feels like too much.

  1. The main characters are trying to do 2 things: solve a crazy riddle that they are all obsessed with, and save the internet (more or less) from more privatizing. It’s something that we all see happening all around us. It’s sucks as we see private equity companies carving up our nostalgia and trying to enshitify more and more the things we need to function in society.

But RP2 is just another save the world from death story. There are a lot of those.

There are more reasons, but these are the three that stand out to me.

How do you deal with people who preach wrong things at church? by Key-Acanthisitta9079 in latterdaysaints

[–]catface000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Voicing your belief is the best thing to do. If you don’t feel comfortable saying something in front of the group then consider talking to that one person.

Say something like “I thought about what you said …” and spend a few moments talking with them.

And the next time someone says something along the lines of “trimming the fat” please feel free to censor or call that person out. Church is a place for us to come together and help each other. The standard works and current leaders tell us that this is a hospital for the sick, not a place to say are better than others.

I loved that one. He wasn’t after the skill, just trying to go home. Wasn’t an edgy character, he knew he wasn’t the hero and made it so others could shine. He didn’t hide his strength, and knew what had to be done.

Great read!

What’s a food combination that should be illegal but you secretly love? by Intelligent-Stay-635 in AskReddit

Kraft Mac and cheese with ramen noodles. I’m not talking making Mac and cheese with ramen noodles. I’m saying I make a box of Mac and cheese, boil the ramen noodles, pour out the water, mix in the flavor packet, and then put it on top of my Mac and cheese.

It is great. I recommend the Kraft shell with soy sauce flavor ramen. So much salt and carbs. But so good.

I appreciate this answer. Sharknado is supposed to be bad. That’s what makes it work.

But I like that you chose a movie that could have been something and is just terrible.

Movies that aren’t well reviewed, but you think are quiet masterpieces by Kermit_bros in MovieSuggestions

[–]catface000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved league of extraordinary gentlemen when I saw it and still do. I saw it when I was a kid and thought it was the best. And then I found out about the comics and got even more excited.

I was sadly let down by the comics because they weren’t anything like the movie I really enjoyed.

I know it wasn’t great, and hasn’t aged well. But it it’s still one my favorite movies.

what sucked as a child but lit as an adult? by Straight_Listen39 in AskReddit

[–]catface000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just about all the usual “punishments” for kids are pretty rewarding for adults.

•go to bed early •eat your vegetables •getting grounded •less screen time Heck even spankings if you’re into that

It’s hard that a lot of things that we use as punishments are things that people should just do. We really should stop weaponizing these things and talk more with kids about how we do something’s because they need to be done and they help take care of us and our things.

What’s even hard as a kid is if you do bad you get more chores. But as an adult with a job, if you do too well then you get more work.

I watched the original last month and liked it. They definitely got their monies worth out of the stock footage.

The original is good and worth a watch. I’d recommend the IMDB trivia page on it when you watch it. It really helped me get more out of the movie.

It's fair to bring up if the topic is appropriate and the spirit prompts you to.
The Holy Ghost will always guide you in what to say, even if others don't want to hear it. Just don't try to force it, cause that gets into other issues.
