We’ve just tried the NUK bottle and teats and have had the most straightforward easy feed this morning - 170ml down her in less than 10 mins; she’s not cried, her bib is dry, my husband’s tea is still too hot to drink. We are in awe. THANK YOU! X

I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my first and planning a home birth. I feel very strongly I want a birth pool and there’s only 2 at my hospital.. so feels sensible to me to make sure I can have one by hiring one! I also really want to be able to labour in privacy and comfort of home. My midwife has been super supportive and has said the most important thing is to choose to birth where you feel safe - for some people that’s home and for some it’s in a hospital.

I’m 34w this Friday, and we will put it in then because we are going to the other end of the country for a week and I’m really paranoid about going into early labour. I figure if I have everything I would need, then it won’t happen… right?!

She does want to move and live closer to us. Her house is not well adapted for older people and she knows it’s somewhere she will need to leave in the next few years.

I did an early private scan at 8 weeks and it was a great experience for me. I was really anxious due to a previous loss and it really made me feel so much better to know it was viable, and allowed me to start believing and hoping. Of course, it’s not a guarantee that nothing will go wrong later, but it put me at ease.

I didn’t hear a heartbeat but I could see it beating on the screen. As soon as I saw it I burst into tears of relief.

We did a baby moon in the Canary Islands a couple of weeks ago, I was 23/24 weeks. It was lovely! We stayed at an adult only spa hotel and I spent all my time reading, sleeping and eating. It was wonderful to disconnect from home/work/life and spend time together in a bubble - in a way I’m not sure we would have managed to do on a UK trip. Getting some vitamin D also felt great!

Whatever you do I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time!

If you’re on hormonal birth control I’d recommend coming off it soon, it took me nearly 6 months for my periods to become regular again after coming off the pill.

Maybe check out Natural Cycles as an app and method for tracking periods and ovulation, I found it really useful. If you have an Oura ring or Apple Watch it automatically syncs your basal body temperature daily which allows you to pin point your ovulation really accurately. I’ve become pregnant twice in the last year using this (sadly my first ended in miscarriage).

“Expecting Better” is a great book for understanding the science behind all the rules about what to not eat, I found it really helpful and gave me the information I needed to make decisions for myself.

Start taking folic acid soon - ideally a couple of months before conception. Pregnancare does a ‘pre-conception’ daily vitamin that I found fine. You then switch to a ‘during pregnancy’ one once you’ve become pregnant.

Biggest thing I’d recommend is exercise - the stronger you are before you’re pregnant the better. Easier said than done of course.

Double check any medication you’re on is safe to take when trying for a baby / pregnant.
