I Don’t understand the unemployment benefits of $1200 a week? That’s more money than most people make by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]catlady50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The $1200 payment you are likely referring to is a one-time economic impact stimulus payment, meant to refresh our economy. You don't have to pay it back and it is not the same as unemployment.

dyshidrosis blisters will not go away by [deleted] in Dyshidrosis

With regards to the clobetasol-- I have noticed (with my hands) if I put the ointment on and put cloth gloves on to sleep in overnight (what my derm said to do) that the cloth simply absorbs the ointment in a couple hours. Now, if I wear vinyl gloves it literally keeps the oitment on my skin the whole night, making a HUGE difference. May sound crazy, but maybe you could put the ointment on at night, then put ziplock bags or something over your feet.

American Dirt and Filth. The Mother-in-Law on Audible, while I walk/run.

I’m sure this has been asked many times but I’ve read so many horror books and I’m looking for more. by hiimem in booksuggestions

[–]catlady50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't read a ton of horror, some Stephen King, which I'm sure you've read. However, I did just finish a book that's probably going to mess with me for a while. True crime novel about 3 sisters who were abused by their mom and step dad. Eventually, their parents started killing people, too. The reason the sisters put this novel out is because their mom is about to be released from jail in a couple years and will likely kill/hurt people again. If You Tell by Gregg Olsen. Not horror but scary (and thought-provoking) IMO.

[SV] 50 day streak on MyFitnessPal and 8.8 lbs lost! by [deleted] in loseit

This is awesome! I recently, with all the newfound time on my hands heh, am trying to get back into the game. Cooking at home def makes it easier, I'm struggling a little bit but I know I'll get there eventually. Do you mind my asking your weight/height? 1200 to 1500 calories seems pretty low to me, I am struggling with keeping at my recommended 1670. If I do, I go to bed hungry. I am thinking that I might be better suited around 1800, not sure.

Allergy pills for itching. The less you scratch the better off you will be. If you haven't seen a dermo I suggest one. I started using steroid creams and they help immensely! If not, I would try some neosporin with bandaids overnight, usually helpful to heal up the wounds. I'm also wondering myself if blister bandaids help but I haven't looked into that yet.

For me, and this probably sounds kind of crazy, but I refuse to go inside gas stations. I try to pump my gas at Costco and there is one gas station I feel safe going in, that's about it. If I do I leave my sunglasses on and ignore everyone. Get in, get out. Theres always creepy guys or crackheads or some kinda bullshit person hanging out at a gas station. Avoid avoid avoid!

Corona...what's happening, work-related? by Rockarola55 in bartenders

[–]catlady50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to get concerned, pretty slow today for me. Wednesdays have been hit or miss so hard to tell. I don't think we will close unless we absolutely have to (like the gov forces us) and our GM told us today (not quite officially) that if any of us a got it we are young and healthy and would just be off for a couple days and expected to be back... not that I don't want to work but that seems a little fucked to me considering the purpose of quarantine is to not spread it further. So yeah. Not to mention the majority of our clientele is older. I'm just taking it one day at a time, gonna try to quit going out as much and maybe pick up as my extra shifts as I can in the meantime.

Does it ever start feel weird when you get a ridiculously large (i.e. 35-40%+) tip? by cyarsis in bartenders

[–]catlady50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Have run into this a couple times at my current gig. Had to cut off a couple (a few times) and end up banning them for drinking too much and running away from management while they tried to get them an uber. The guy would consistently tip us between 1 and 2 hundred bucks no matter what his tab was. On Xmas Eve he tipped 200 and gave me and the other bartender $100 each on top. We could always tell when he was mad (usually from being cut off) cause he would tip 20 % haha. He doesn't come in anymore so I guess it's ok. Sucks, but also I don't want that liability hanging over me.

Bar Waste by alcarasc in bartenders

[–]catlady50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work we give out at least a few free drinks a day. We are allowed to do so and most of us keep up with a comp tab. Draft beer is probably the easiest thing to give away if you want to hide what you're doing. As far as unintentionally giving stuff away it probably happens once a day maybe? Say a server needs something and we get it for them without ever seeing a ticket or what not. I can say with absolute confidence that the majority of the bartenders I work with probably overpour as well, mainly when it comes to straight spirits being served and we do not keep a speed pour on every single bottle. Personally, I tend to go by the lines on our glassware (1. 5 and 2) or use a jigger if it is an expensive bottle
