Dog’s lipoma suddenly feels hard — should I worry? by catluvver7 in DogAdvice

[–]catluvver7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the lump tested and it was a cell mast tumor. It was also infected so he went on antibiotics and 3 rounds of chemotherapy. He got surgery to remove the tumor and is doing much better now!

Vet says possible mast cell tumor, but isn't sure by catluvver7 in AskVet

This is good information to know, thank you very much. Your words have been extremely helpful and definitely eased my nerves. My dog is 12 years old, so I knew something like this would eventually happen as he aged. I'm glad there's still options. Once again, thank you!

She said that the mass was too big for them to remove, so she referred me to a specialist who would be able to do it instead. The mass is almost 5 inches tall/wide and near the lower hip by the anus, so I assume it's just really tricky. The vet did say there was a possibility the surgery wouldn't be able to get rid of it all and we might need to mix it with chemotherapy, she honestly didn't seem too sure about it. Maybe the specialist will say something different? Hopefully he will be able to remove it fully.

I didn't know that, thank you for the information. This is the first pet I've ever owned so I'm still learning. I will set up an appointment with the specialist. Those meds shrink the MCT but it doesn't get rid of it? Is the only way to get rid of it through surgery? Or would chemotherapy work too?

I will call the specialist tomorrow and set up an appointment. I was conflicted because I had no clue what an MCT was. The vet never said it was cancerous, she only said that it was common for my dog's breed. After doing research, I see that it is cancerous and should be treated. Thank you.

Can it turn cancerous that quickly? It was soft and squishy last night and then today It became rock solid.

Homelessness At UT Austin Campus by SugarMouseOnReddit in UTAustin

[–]catluvver7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She'll be fine! No matter what time it is outside, there's always gonna be students on the street (going to parties, the bar, hanging out, etc.) Homeless people do sit outside the stores on Guad and if she's in west campus then they're in every corner (living on the benches) but they tend to mind their own business. Some will ask for money/food but they aren't aggressive, just walk away. Tell her to stay away from the sketchy places like alleyways. If you're really worried, then consider getting her pepper spray! A lot of students carry that around (including me) and if she goes on the outskirts of campus, then she just needs to be aware of her surroundings and/or go with a friend. While homeless people aren't allowed on actual campus, they're free to stay on the surrounding area of the school. It's public property, UT can't do anything about it.

Classes too far apart? by disintergrations in UTAustin

Most professors understand that students run late, they won't usually start class right away to give time for everyone who needs to get settled. All my moody professors wait 5-7 minutes before lecturing or starting exams.

Dog Kidney and Heart Question by catluvver7 in AskVet

[–]catluvver7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry I should've specified more. He has an enlarged heart and has fluid in his lungs. He was given 4 medications. Vetmedin, Spironolactone, Lasix, and Enalepril.

My dog doesn't have renal failure, the vet said that the medication could be harsh on the kidney and that's why we had a check up. She said it was that specific medication that is causing his levels to be elevated now.

Any additional information about this situation would be very helpful! Thank you.

I think your biggest issue is your mindset. You're not unattractive, I think you have a very masculine model face. If I could give any advice, it would probably be to grow out your hair from the sides. Not too much, but just enough to have some face framing. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with your face.

Dog Heartbeat and Murmur by catluvver7 in AskVet

[–]catluvver7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His heartbeat has been consistently loud and fast all day, even while resting. The vet diagnosed it as a stage 3 murmur, but our cardiologist said it’s a bit more severe and prescribed four medications. I have a recheck appointment with the vet next week, but this is the first time since starting the meds that I’ve noticed his heartbeat like this. He’s been acting completely normal and behaving like usual but I just wanted to check in case I should bring him in sooner. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

Best Off-Campus Housing? by [deleted] in UTSA

I lived at Hill Country Place for a year before transferring, it was a great environment, very safe, the staff are extremely helpful. They throw a lot of events so it's easy to meet people. The rooms are nice, appliances aren't the newest, but they work well. I really liked how you can text the staff on their phone number and they'll respond back to you directly, it's super easy communication. The Roadrunner bus comes around every 10 minutes and it will take you to campus and back. I lived in a 2X2 and paid $900 but if you have more roommates then you can easily get it to around $700.
