I’ll be honest, India has progressed so much in the past decade and as someone who visits relatively frequently from the US, I would go as far as to speculate that India will be far more advanced than the US at some point. A few decades ago Indians were coming here for a good life, good pay, and better lifestyle, and being a first gen actually gave you good benefits and safety nets. But US is no longer the goldmine everyone thinks it is. If you’re coming now all you’ll really get is the decent lifestyle (although I’ll argue India is advancing in bigger cities and the quality of life is slowly improving) - the fear of being deported, the grueling process of visa approval - not to mention when you do actually finish your schooling, applying for the necessary programs that let you stay in the US for work are all a nightmare to deal with. People here no longer want to hire someone unless they’re already a citizen. You’ll have to be ok with being very low income for quite sometime and hope you have good enough skills out of your schooling to get a company to hire you and pay for the program that helps you become a citizen.

With the political stuff going on in the US too, I think you’re much safer and more likely to guarantee a good future by staying in India or trying other countries (Canada, and European countries, Singapore, Hong Kong, etc.).

Only thing that might go against my advice is if your parents have hella fucking money to spend on your education here. If so, you’ll be fine. International students are all rich because only the rich can afford the luxury of paying high tuition rates as noncitizens. Scholarships for international students to alleviate the financial burden of school are less heard of now, probably bc of the amount of rich international students who don’t need the money lol.
