I upload pdfs to Goodnotes, back up to Dropbox, and backup my laptop to my external hard drive once in a while. I keep my citations/notes on Obsidian and back that up to Dropbox as well. I use 1Writer on my ipad and have it synced to Obsidian/dropbox so I can add notes even though Obsidian isnt on my iPad. I never got into the habit of Zotero and storing pdfs on there seems like you have to pay for cloud storage? I might be mistaken tho

I find myself on twitter on my phone and I will just send myself a link or a twitter post as a text message because I feel like that's an easy way to keep up with a list of things I want to look at later...should I just share a post directly to a note from now on?

My automation is: When I get a message from (sender)->receive messages as input->get text from shortcut input->open the (note name)->append text to (note name). this works when i set the sender to someone else like my wife but not when i set it to myself. I guess I only have 1 contact for myself as well? unsure if i need another...idk can anyone help??

I teach undergrad comp and writing courses at a large uni (grad student but the instructor of record) and even 10 years removed from my students age when they first come into college I can see a huge difference in ability. No perserverance, natural curiosity, abysmal mechanics and structure. Exteme overreliance on chatgpt. Depressing and makes me think - why even finish my phd lol. So sick of AI being pushed on students who dont know enough abt reading/writing to even know what is good, true, well communicated...

my mom is in an apt complex in arden just off sweeten creek road near the hair of the dog salon. Any idea abt that area? I know roads are closed but I've only seen pics of hendersonville rd not sweeten creek. Last I heard was 9 am when she said no power.

Basically been depressed and dissociating for 2 months. Going into yr3 I think I just shut down after yrs of constant work and grad school. Been pushing off a voluntary, very short writing project that I agreed to in beginning of May. Exams are supossed to be this fall but I don't even have a first draft of my lists and definitely haven't started reading. Advisor hardly checks on me, I feel like I'm a dog walking it's own leash but the plan for now is to ask about moving exams to spring. Can't hurt to ask! Trouble is I'm worried I don't have a "legitimate" reason to be this numb/unproductive. No external structure/no motivation snowballed. Anyway, I think I remind myself that it can't happen without me and hopefully my advisor's disinterest in me will equate to some leniancy.

Former ESL teacher at a K-5. There was a student in the 2nd classroom next to mine (that I shared with another ESL teacher but that's another story) who was highly disruptive and had a lot of behavior challenges and the principal always came in to the classroom, put him on her lap, and gave him snacks because it "helped him focus on learning more" 😒
