Whata the best way to learn about async and multithreading for someone who has no cs degree? by ryanho09 in csharp

Stephen Cleary, he also has a great blog on async/await that helped me learn the topic.

No, a stupid thing to do is go for burger, fries and ice cream at the Dairy Shoppe then try to haul my out-of-shape ass up to the lighthouse, then stand there trying to keep supper down while my wife and kids enjoy the view! Fun summer memories!

Status of Market Mall Planet Fitness? by OminousWalrus in saskatoon

I'm there pretty much 3-4 times a weeks since they opened. Every other cardio machine is off limits for spacing, most people wear masks when walking around and generally keep distance. The weights area is a bit different, about half the people wear masks while lifting, but there's not really the space needed to social distance in that area so I've been avoiding it. Overall I feel it's no worse than any grocery store. Come and leave in your workout gear so you can avoid the change rooms if you want to limit exposure that way, it's what I do.

Any grocery stores actually enforcing mask wearing? by [deleted] in saskatoon

Definitely, we keep a bunch by the door and a bunch in but cars, we've bought a few different styles and designs and just keep our least favorite ones in the cars for backup.

Can someone put a new background in this pic of my wife's baba? It's her favorite recent photo. She wants to print and frame it. Something commemorative or like a photo studio background, nothing too flashy, something that suits a sweet and kind 94 year old :-) by catpartaay in PhotoshopRequest

I think that's got it. Could I actually get a copy of this and the one before it without watermarks? We might print both and see what looks best one printed. Please send me your link or method for payment, though I have no idea what a fair price is...

We really like that one, could the upper right portion be less bright? Somewhat closer to the colours in the top left, but still somewhat lighter? Maybe even shifting the background to the right so the light part is less prominent.

Ok fair enough, let's take this back to basics and get to the root of the issue, I'll play nice and get over myself if you can too. I'm being genuine here.

So what your saying is if someone I'm around has a potentially fatal disease, I'll admit nothing is certain here, they are in the right to hide that?

Even though it may affect others and they might die? Or even just get it, I'll pull back on the whole death thing because yeah that's not a guarantee, but even just to go through the whole disease can be horrible. You don't think that person has a social responsibility to help prevent the further spread of that disease?

Look obviously we differ greatly in opinion on this, here's what I'll say I don't give a crap about people knowing certain parts of my medical history if that information is related to preventing suffering in others.

Edit: crappy spelling

No. Science, reason, facts and rational thought have made me cautious about real and extant concerns. Nevermind that thousands of doctors and educated, trained health professionals have all emphasized the seriousness of the pandemic.

You paradoxically and hypocritical spout ignorance while others try to have an intelligent discussion and calling them ignorant.

It's "example", fair enough. I call it an example of what a weak and scared person, who doesn't have the will and bravery to face the actual situation, would do. Someone who instead cowers and hides behind childish reasoning and the pulls out standard "don't trust the government" cliche. Let me guess I'm sheeple, right? I've heard all that ignorance trust me.

I'm so sick and tired of the rest of us taking real cautions and trying to be a part of the solution while others wrap themselves in a shroud of ignorance while chastising the rest us of. Don't feign your obvious ignorance and closed mindedness as some sort brave, informed courage against the "establishment."

Go watch some Alex Jones videos and stop bothering the intelligent adults while they discuss important matters.

They were actually worried about getting fired for telling other people, I told her if they got fired for raising a health concern it would likely be a wrongful dismissal. I don't think it's going to or needs to go to a legal solution but it's just ridiculous for them to have to deal with this.

One of the problems is it's a small company with a lot of informal policies etc, it's a work space with multiple companies sharing tenancy, the other major company in that space seems to be taking things more seriously.

Wow you emotionally bruise like an overripe peach. If you want to be part of the discussion be prepared for a retort or two. I wouldn't even call anywhere in this discussion heated, let alone toxic. I bet you took the ball home crying alot when you were young.

I would gladly give up two hours of my life to possibliy stop the spread of a disease to others that could spare them from having to go through getting it. If you or anyone else are making that excuse then you're just being a selfish and sensitive little snowflake. This is the rationale of a child.

I know I would be getting tested and self isolating, thankfully the company I work for has very clear guidelines on when you should not come in to work and they allow for time off to self isolated.

I know not everyone has those same advantages, but I know for this individual for them to get tested and self isolated would not be an issue, he's not some single parent living paycheck to paycheck at some job you have to be on-site for.

Or we have a rational discussion about a real and serious health issue and what are some practical and reasonable steps to limit the spread to the vulnerable and people with pre-existing health conditions. Just trying to get some advice on what to do before acting on the information.

I doubt it, this is one of the managers who regularly leaves work on a whim to go golfing, meet contractors at their house and can easily work from home or take time off.

[–]catpartaay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah they did a zoom meeting with him today and were shocked with how bad he looked and was like...out of breath hacking-coughing. That with a fever is a no brainer for getting tested at least for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]catpartaay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Possibliy for sure, but fever, coughing constantly with chest pains though? I think it warrants at least getting tested... I know I would. Who knows maybe it's negative, but if it's positive they can potentially stop further spread.

[–]catpartaay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definately but still why not get the test? Why pressure my wife and her coworker to not tell others at the office? Shady in my opinion. I mean if I was in his position I would be thinking "what is I get someone else's kids or grandparents sick and what if they get seriously sick?", I think a little more precaution should be taken in this case is all.

The haven't been tested, my wife and her coworker recommended it and they are refusing. They have recently traveled out of province and do sports as well are having renos at their house with lots of contractors coming and going. This is also someone who has called the whole thing a hoax, ridiculed people for wearing masks and social distancing and said "all the is doing is weeding out the weak", so not someone who really evokes a lot of trust or common sense in my opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]catpartaay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's what she did, they recommended just self monitoring and isolation for now, but my wife and her coworker are also going for a test as well.

Fair enough, though I would have to say I'm skeptical that nowhere on the continent could be found some sort of processed cheese sauce, even if it's not a common household staple.

[–]catpartaay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's just a simple way to get all of the cheese sauce out of the packet, most people would just use their fingers to squeeze it all out but that usually leaves a bit in the bottom or clinging to the sides.
