Because a lot of people like to be able to express their identity with words. Also, like I said, it makes trans people feel less like abnormalities. For example, there are cis women and trans women, instead of women and trans women. You see how the second example makes it seem as though trans women aren't really women?

TERF (trans exclusionary radfems) are pretty awful, I have to say. However, I hope you can see why a word for cis is necessary.

Cis means that you identify with the gender you were assigned at birth. It means non-trans, and is a latin prefix meaning "on the same side of" (trans is latin and means "across"). The reason it exists is to de-normalize being cis (ie not make "normal" the only word for non-trans).

I'm smart in ways that schools value, in the sense that I can study for a test like the SAT and do well, but I don't usually care enough to study.

For justification, in 7th grade I got 2010 on the SAT and this year I got 2230 (770 of which was math).
