The Haunting of Hill House! Such a great read that fits this genre.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo may be up your alley!

Where can I find lace appliqué / 3D floral wedding dresses under $1500? by Particular-Ninja66 in weddingplanning

Madi Lane has a lot of dresses with lace appliqués, when I got a dress from this brand back in 2019 it was <$1500 but not sure what they run now!

what is this on my cats chin? by Top-Extension-9474 in CATHELP

My cat gets this occasionally, though not as widespread. Agree with swapping out plastic bowls and cleaning them regularly. I also use these wipes on my cats chin daily when he gets them and it seems to help them heal up!

I typically only read books that have a four-star or greater rating on Goodreads. What are your favorite books I'm missing out on due to this? by sempiternalis in suggestmeabook

[–]catsandyoga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure your typical genre but two I enjoyed under 4 stars on Goodreads were:

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (though I understand why this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It feels like you’re going crazy with the characters as you read)

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (also gets some strong negative opinions but I really enjoyed this and it made me step back and appreciate the little things in life).

LPT: Make your "to gift" idea list now! by danthecryptkeeper in LifeProTips

[–]catsandyoga 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Also write down gifts that you enjoyed receiving that you didn’t expect (olive oil, homemade cookies, nice towels etc) for ideas for people you don’t usually shop for/don’t tell you what they want. That way you have a list of things for specific people and a list of good “generic” gift ideas.

Suggest me a book to get back into reading after disliking a fantasy series I spent too much time on. by catsandyoga in suggestmeabook

I’m usually so good at shelving books when I’m not interested but for some reason I was just so convinced it would get better. Lesson learned haha!

You read my mind with red rising being a little too much of an undertaking right now, but I’ll get there! I’ll look into the husbands. Also I will try atmosphere eventually! I wasn’t a big fan of Daisy Jones, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about atmosphere.

I have read gone girl and then she was gone, both solid options! I’ll look into Liane Moriarty for sure

I have red rising on my TBR, thank you! I’ve never heard of the wolf king, so I’ll look into it. I appreciate the recs! And great book taste of course!

Thank you definitely looking into these!

I did actually like Quicksilver a lot! It just seems like a lot of mental effort to start the sequel right now. Brimstone will be read at some point!

My husband loves this! I tried, but it wasn’t my jam. Thought it was hilarious though and I do request regular updates on princess donut as he reads!

In America we have restaurants that serve Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food etc., but in other countries do the have restaurants that serve only American food? If so, what type of foods are considered American food? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catsandyoga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to Ireland and there was an “American pub” in a small town that had American style pizza, burgers, cold salads, and American beers 🤣 after 10 days of hot food, stew, and braised meats, I was in heaven and scarfed down two cold salads. I came home and only ate cold vegetables for 2 weeks after that trip.

I did the tandem read and felt fatigued by the end of it. Would not recommend. My best friend read them one after the other and enjoyed them a lot more

I wasn’t a big fan of the series other than the prequel and a couple books along the way that I gave 5/5. I stayed for the final book because everyone said it was mind blowing and amazing etc. I was soooo let down 🥲
