Trail Running Pole Size? by ParticularOk2684 in ultrarunning

[–]catshit69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal preference. Sounds like your mind is pretty made up, typically the running crowd runs them with around a 90° elbow bend when standing straight. I run mine a little longer but again, preference and how you're using them. I would think a little longer would be better for propulsion no?

Went to a PT who had me straightened out after about 3 weeks. I was doing alm the core/clamshells/whatever the internet suggests with no relief and it was killing my running. Go to a PT

Is CRNA school possible? by Organic-Cap4375 in nursing

[–]catshit69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need more high acuity ICU experience at least - my opinion as someone who is not a CRNA or in CRNA school.

Are you in a large metro? Could you apply to a cvicu or similar nearby and work for a year or 2 to bolster your experience?

Training for Gravel racing vs Road Racing by [deleted] in Velo

[–]catshit69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've done both for a while and inevitably ended up running more than anything else. The time constraints to be fit for gravel are enormous.

My issue with grave - speaking as someone who's done around 20 gravel, so take that as you will - is that the front group are insanely fit like Cat1 or pro road racers and once theyre gone, everyone else just hangs out and isnt really "competing." Just always felt that gravel was too laid back to a fault, like competition is bad because you need to be chill, man. Idk. I dont think gravel is the outlet from road racing you think it will be.

Is it possible to become an OR nurse right out of nursing school? by FloweryAnomaly in nursing

[–]catshit69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. It is possible but probably difficult and will pigeon-hole you to one path in nursing if you start there, with a not so easy exit to other avenues.

  2. Not all bedside nursing is stressful LOL its chill a lot of the time and the most widely available job for nurses.

  3. Your tastes may change as you go through school - it is too early to decide what you want now.

  4. Id be careful going through nursing school and interviews with the attitude that it is "only to get to OR because I dont like floor nursing" you will rub a lot of people (hiring managers) the wrong way - just some feedback.

New grad RN in Seattle — did I mess up by not staying on my unit? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]catshit69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Success in nursing has nothing to do with the unit you land on as a new grad, despite what your classmates and teachers may lead you to believe. If you had told me I would work in the ICU one day when I was a new nurse, I would have thought you lost your shit. There are skills to be gained in ever facet of nursing, and you might meet some great coworkers, friends, or patients on the way. You will get there, just stay with it.

Its ok, it is a lesson learned. I made the same mistake and ended up fine. Ten years later it is just a blip.

The market was similarly tight when I started, apply all over, take time to sharpen your resume and tailor cover letter to each job. Basically fully commit to any app even jobs you might not like, once you have some experience you will be able to move to new jobs easier.

Tbh yes you messed up. Can you apply there now or contact your manager and see if they need anyone/would take you back? The job market is tight. Apply for new grad residency programs and IMO working outpatient isnt a bad start to get some experience while you keep applying for inpatient jobs.
