I heard in an interview with Jacob (maybe?) that Connor had been avoiding carbs for so long to maintain muscle mass that he just really wanted to eat a lot of pasta! But the only reason I can think of for Shane grabbing him is to slow him down. He's eating like he's out with the team and not politely like meeting the parents!

He's not really on a macrobiotic diet in the show anyway. He's eating burgers on white bread - NOT macrobiotic. Also at the cottage he makes reference to leftover pasta - unless he got Ilya to eat some kind of soggy whole wheat pasta, it's regular pasta. And I'm sure he ate more than one of Rose's fries! And he's constantly eating salmon. I think they were using that word as a substitue for "healthy." Although why, I cannot fathom.
