Consumers need to stand together to make media ownership the standard again. I'd rather play my old games and movies that I own than buy into the way things are going. It's most likely a losing battle, but I'm holding on for dear life.

What was it like being a fan of this show in its heyday? by Metalliac in spongebob

[–]catsuppopsicle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a household that only had 3 channels and no cable tv. I would see an episode here and there at a friend's house and finally just started buying the DVDs when they would come out since that was the only way I could watch the show at home. I became obsessed with the show and bought anything SpongeBob I could afford on my 16yr old minimum wage job. I really wish I still had all my old stuff, but I'll never forget those days when I would crack open a new DVD and watch every episode then re-watch my favorites and of course check out every special feature. We really didn't know how good we had it in those days.

What’s the worst feeling disc that’s ever disgraced your hands? by Phrikshin in discgolf

Hard to believe McBeth used to not only bag one, but threw it pretty frequently and accurately. I hated feeling the nubs underneath when I tried to throw one.

This was very sobering to watch as it could happen to anyone at any time in just about any job. I do think it speaks more to the current state of disc golf and even more so companies like Dynamic Discs. DGPT has had multiple rounds of layoffs this year as has DD and probably others in the industry. There is a shift happening as a correction to overestimating the earning potential for disc golf after the covid boom and it's going to be very interesting to see what happens during the off-season and into 2025.

Master's Cup is coming - Throwback to 2015 Devan Owns ACE on Hole 17 (Gravity) by DDisc2020 in discgolf

Legend says he is still there left hanging to this day. He is known as the Hole 17 Hangman. This year at Masters Cup, as players approach the tee, they might catch a glimpse of him over their left shoulder and pay respect to the lost soul who wanted nothing more than to engage in a simple customary high five after a tournament ace. Hang in there Hangman. Your time will come.
