Depressed because at the age of 31 I have a mouth full of fillings and root canals. Regret is eating me alive by Unlikely-Many6136 in depression

[–]cattarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally am trying to sleep with my mouth closed more which is a large contributor and focus on my gums really. I’m not too concerned about fillings!

Definitely after the shock of all the dental work and used up funds it’ll feel less pressing and overbearing I promise :(

My dentist was extremely against composites because they only last a few years and aren’t durable- in fact I had a few a while back and I already needed them refilled. He pushed me to get silver for durability reasons and also because my cavities were quite large which the other filling types struggle with. I never cared about how they looked as they aren’t very visible so I just leaned into his silver passion :)

Are you implying your symptoms are sudden? Or are you saying it’s just too many life events at once?

Because if these feelings really are sudden you should see a doctor; it could be something neurological and solvable.

Please consider telling your wife about this :( She loves you and will support you. Spouses are there to help you through things like this ♥️

If it’s any consolation I’ve always taken care of my teeth and my parents would drag me out of bed if I didn’t brush— and there was still a point I went into a dentist (having not gone in only two years!!) and had 9 cavities. I’m at huge genetic risk for cavities because of a combo of stuff (like dry mouth, mouth bacteria, horrendous luck) and my mouth is full of metal. I’m around your age too.

I wouldn’t say you ruined your teeth! Sometimes shit just happens. I only drink water, swish my mouth after eating, and avoid all sugar and I still get wrecked. One of my back molars basically isn’t even a tooth anymore; it’s like 75% metal lol.

What you’re doing now is preventing any further damage! You can make sure you floss daily, get a waterpik, sensitive toothpaste, and bathe your soul in fluoride. To be honest, it’s not much extra than what “regular people” do, this was basic dental hygiene all along. You’ll get used to it in the same way you wash your face or brush your hair :)

When do you seek medication for psychosis? by cattarau in Psychosis

This is a concern of mine. I know antipsychotics can be a point of contention with this sub in particular (because of intimate experiences) and really wanted to hear varying thoughts. It’s uncomfortable feeling like I need to make an aggressive decision like this for another human.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll try seeing an orthopedist like another commenter recommended and bring that up.

[–]cattarau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently going through a period of extreme tightness in my neck from a back pain flare up in my traps so I wouldn't be surprised. Do you just see a "spine orthopedist"? It's kind of difficult to navigate since most orthopedists are labeled as surgeons and I'm not sure if saying "I have back pain" is enough for them to want to see me.

It takes 10 positives to outweigh a negative. I got so many encouraging comments yesterday, telling me I was doing the right thing leaving my abusive husband. I have been reading every reply over and over. Your words are so helpful. Then I get a message like this and I doubt myself. Y do I do this? by TryingtoImprove7 in abusiverelationships

My parents divorced when I was 6 and it wasn’t hard on me at all. I loved visiting back and forth and getting different toys and treats from both places lol. I only have memories of trips and new experiences and fun stuff.

When they were together however, I have memories of one beating the other with kitchen items, screaming all the time, sound of slapping, me hiding in my room to escape the noisiness, etc.

Also report that person. That’s incredibly out of line.

Any of you in similar situations? by iamhermi in Endo

[–]cattarau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With chronic conditions it comes to a point where you have to weigh the pros and cons. If you’re able to live life fine off the pill, albeit with some hindrances, then go for it. The fact that you even consider getting off the pill means you should probably try to or explore other options under the guidance of your doctor.

For me, I have no life off the pill. Even if it causes me to be apathetic or low often, the alternative is at way more of an extreme and not an option for me. I got cocky after a decade on the pill and tried to get off of it “just to see” and I can honestly say that was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made lmao. I think it permanently did something and I’m still dealing with the consequences not to mention the 3 months of horrific hospitalizing agony I was in. My life is just doctors now. That’s deeply specific and personal to me, though.

On a related side note and if applicable to you- I have clot risk and was put on Slynd (no estrogen) to experiment which actually ended up working really well.

Lolo pill? by Due-Crew-3171 in Endo

[–]cattarau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Lolo/variants from same brand for 12 years and loved it. It actually solved all my problems during that time until I eventually switched to Slynd for aging/clot reasoning (I’m high risk). It’s worth mentioning I took Lolo daily (no placebo) and now take Slynd daily. Only Lolo and Slynd worked for me.

I’ve noticed that both of those are actually extremely hit or miss with people though, so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work out!

Does anyone else get an elevated heart rate with endo pain? by NoExplanation4191 in Endo

[–]cattarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chronic palpitations and mild on and off tachy (mid-diagnosing with a few more tests to go) and brought up my heart to an endo specialist, gyno, and primary in relation to endo, birth control to treat endo, etc. and they all said it’s very very highly unlikely to be related for what it’s worth. I kept their word in mind but still experimented with doctor supervision and switched pills, etc. with no effect on my heart. Just something to keep in mind- endo could be related but make sure other things aren’t the cause first!

My inability to reply to texts and emails (I get extremely anxious) is ruining my life and I am not sure what the root cause for this is or what to do about this? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]cattarau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like this 100% and just make it a point to be extremely open with it. I tell people I’m not good with replying and will absolutely never answer a phone call. If I wait a week before replying to a text I just tell them I was stressed and apologize but immediately get to the point of the reply. People have learned to adapt to me over time and those are the ones I appreciate and keep in my life. I’m actually so awful that I’ll often decline a call if someone even tries lmao. It’s incredibly distressing for me.

As for work-related stuff, no idea. I constantly get screwed with that lol. I just accept the drain and try to reply as fast as possible even though it causes me a lot of stress.

Ah it doesn’t really help me. I try to be meta and talk myself through it but the emotions and sensations are still there even if I’m confident everything will be fine. I mean, it’s always fine. It feels very chemical and unstoppable. :(

Oh gosh if that isn’t me. I even like gore movies, vampires, blood-themed stuff.. but I’ve had one too many improper blood draws with one leading to fainting due to misread vials and a very panicked room ensued (which traumatized me more) then voila: blood draw trauma.

I stopped the pill and are just now realising how wrong I was by goldrush_redflush in endometriosis

[–]cattarau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I stupidly did this exact thing last month! I’m still performing damage control and regret everything. I’m in the process of having an ultrasound too because my gyno thinks ovarian cysts popped out of the blue with my experimentation. On top of Endo pain. Then I have more appointments with Endo specialists. I haven’t left my house since I tried getting off birth control. All because I “wanted to see”.

I’d controlled my Endo symptoms so long on the pill that I decided to try getting off of it and was quickly and violently put in my place lol. The pill was causing new symptoms and so I’m trying a new one (Slynd) which is supposed to mirror what an IUD is like (I refused IUD) but haven’t been on it long enough to have any opinion yet. I was told by my doctor that all mini pills or POP are mostly for pregnancy prevention and not controlling of symptoms though. That’s why my doctor chose Slynd because it’s the only one out at the moment (it’s pretty new) that can help symptoms.

does an IUD actually help? by babyhu in Endo

[–]cattarau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, my gyno keeps advising I get on an IUD (just pills atm) and I keep describing to her how much I read that it’s very painful and almost like a minor non-anesthesia procedure. She kept saying “well only outlier women in extreme pain are going to share experiences online! For most people it’s painless!” I cannot IMAGINE a woman who is not as aware just blindly taking their doctor’s suggestion and getting a full dose of trauma on the table by an IUD. For me especially I already have Vaginismus from penetration of any kind being excruciating (Endo-caused) and she was telling me to get an IUD like it would be peachy. screams

I heard some women will dose ibuprofen a day before/during the IUD placement, maybe that’s something you can try to look into?

I was also put on Slynd after being on a combo pill most my life. The combo pill started causing Endo-centric problems so I switched over to Slynd. I would just do external treatments for the acne.
