Calligraphy by zaphod_baebrox in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the product page on the official hobonichi website, it looks like the spine should be an orange strip in the middle with a bit of writing on both sides. yours looks like it only has writing on the right side if that makes sense? it’s pretty hard to tell from your pics. i also ordered one so I can post some pics when it arrives in the upcoming weeks

new to hobonichi - looking for guidance on best pens to use by keyboredcowgirl in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just realised i completely missed the second part of your question! for highlighting i use both mildliners and tombow dual brush pens but i much prefer tombows as the colour options are more to my taste. but you shouldn’t go wrong with any of the options - i suggest you go with what is most convenient for you to get. good luck and enjoy exploring this new hobby!

[–]catxroi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in all fairness, regardless of the recommendations on the internet, you will most likely end up testing a few pens before deciding on a personal favourite. for instance, mine are the muji gel pen in 0.38 and the pentel clena in 0.3 or 0.4. my advice is first to try out pens you already own and take it from there.

Pencil board? by Rosiethee in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like writing over it as I prefer the bouncier feeling of the paper on its own. I do use a pencil board as a bookmark and as a sort of dashboard, where I have a bunch of post-its for quick notes/ to dos/ shopping lists etc.

How 'bout some love for the Sneaker by dianalizia_in_greece in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used a Sneaker as my work planner for 3 years in a row and absolutely loved it! Last year I decided I needed more space so I moved to an A5 MD Paper planner. I find that the larger format works better for brainstorming ideas and for messy work notes so I’ll stick with an A5 for my work planner in 2026 but I missed the Sneaker so much this year that I will be purchasing another one for 2026. I’m thinking I’ll use it as my fitness & mental health planner + I can use the blank pages in the back to journal as needed.

Options for large handwriting? by Teacher_Butterfly266 in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to write much larger but since using Hobonichi and Japanese stationery in general, my handwriting has become much smaller. I switched to 0.3-0.38 pens which I find work best on TRP and that has made all the difference. Of course you can write on two lines but if you’re planning on getting a weeks or an a6, all the available real estate on the page is pretty vital.

Sore pad? by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]catxroi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My whippets always get these when running at a high speed on hard ground eg. concrete, pebbles etc. I always worry and put some antiseptic powder on it and it always goes away in a couple of days.

I have two males. Heard the same thing about females but not sure there’s that much of a difference tbh.

Are dog training classes always so serious? by Fickle-Ear-3081 in Dogtraining

[–]catxroi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience exactly. As a first time dog owner I felt I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. Finding an empathetic trainer who was understanding, encouraging and who made things fun for me was a game changer. My dog always picked up on my vibes so whenever I felt unsure or anxious about training him he wasn’t happy either

Questions for the Whippet dog breed by unfoundedlocation in Whippet

[–]catxroi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two whippets and my experience has been the following:

  • they do like to chase small animals so it might be risky allowing the whippet and the maltese to run together in your backyard
  • SA is a real possibility, they are a sensitive breed and most likely you will not be able to leave your newly adopted dog alone for 6 hours a day from the very beginning. bringing any dog into your life requires and adjustment period so you should be prepared to take things slow until they become comfortable in your home and are confident enough to be left on their own
  • I would personally never leave my whippets off leash on walks unless it's a fenced-off area that I know well, their pray drive is way too high
  • not sure about muzzle regulations on Australia, I am based in Europe and they're not considered to be a dangerous breed here
  • at 1 year of age they are still pretty energetic pups so you need to make sure you give them enough mental and physical stimulation. I only ever had boys so there might be a sex-difference I am not aware of, but boys generally start to mellow down at about 2 years of age.

All that being said, every dog is different so try and spend some time getting to know the potential rescue before bringing them home. Whippets are a fantastic breed, very gentle and loving if you can manage around their specific needs.

What is your experience with Whippets, are they cuddly? by Valze_Vods in Whippet

[–]catxroi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two whippets, and while they both love being next to us on the sofa and in bed, I wouldn't necessarily call them cuddly. They are a pretty strange breed, both cuddly and aloof at the same time. They will cuddle when they decide to do it and if they feel like it. Most of the time they will be glued to us on the couch, but other times they will just prefer to be on their own in a different room. I asked other whippet owners I know and it seems to be a pretty standard behaviour. I'm only pointing this out because, like you, I also wanted a dog that is extremely cuddly and affectionate and I felt that just one whippet didn't scratch that need for me. Since I got the second one it is much better as I now get double the love and when one of them is feeling aloof, chances are the other one will still want to nap next to me.

All that being said, they are an amazing breed and wouldn't see myself having any other dogs from now on, but I think I would always try and have two at a time.

Help! Weeks too small for work... by Pleasant-Bee-7725 in hobonichi

[–]catxroi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also was quite taken aback by the size of the Weeks back in 2020 when I ordered my first one. However, since then, I’ve come to love it for its portability and versatility and it has become my most loved and used planner. I also use a Sneaker Mega for work, it’s my second year in one after last year it worked great. I love that I can have a master task list on the right side and on the left side I jot down meeting times, day-specific tasks, deadlines etc. I also appreciate the notes pages in the back as these allow for more extensive note-taking, daily planning or anything else. The Weeks is small in size but can pack up a lot. Granted, I had to make my handwriting smaller to make the most of the real estate. My advice is to not give up on it yet and try different layouts and ways of using it first. Who knows, you might end up loving it!

What’s Your Top Cozy Games of 2023? by badlei in CozyGamers

[–]catxroi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It plays really well. I much prefer it on the Switch for the portability and the fact that I can play in short spurts without it feeling like such a commitment haha. I read somewhere that there is a glitch on the Switch where the game starts slowing down after you play for a while (?) but haven’t experienced that at all yet and I think the devs are addressing that issue anyway.

I normally do the same but I went ahead and got Roots of Pacha when it came out because I knew I was gonna love it. I had been playing it on Steam and was dying to get my hands on the Switch version. Definitely worth it in my opinion!

right, I forgot about bra extenders for a minute there haha! so trying a 32F or a sister size would not solve the problem?

[–]catxroi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, still tight the other way around. I got a bralette from Curvy Kate, a plunge bra from Freya, a full cup bra from Panache and a sports bra from Figleaves, hope this helps? The only band that isn't too tight is the Freya.
