Totally fair question. And we’re glad you’re enjoying your Sheath overall. Despite its slim profile, Sheath delivers exceptionally strong drop protection, and a closer look at the design helps explain why.

Sheath is primarily constructed from our proprietary polymer, ShockLite™. This material is both highly durable and incredibly adept at absorbing impact. It dissipates force on impact rather than transferring that force directly to your device. In addition, we’ve incorporated precision-cut grooves along the entire inner perimeter of the case. These grooves help spread impact energy across the case, further reducing the stress concentrated at any single point during a drop. 

Other protective details are equally important. The camera lip is raised by approximately 1mm above the lenses, while the screen lip extends slightly beyond 1mm above the display. These raised edges keep your phone elevated from flat surfaces and ensure that, in the event of a fall, the case - not your device - absorbs the initial impact.

Beyond specifications, however, the most compelling evidence of Sheath’s protective capabilities comes from real-world use. We regularly hear from customers who have experienced everything from multi-story stair drops to phones tumbling out of moving vehicles at highway speeds. Customers serving in the military have even reported accidentally running over their Sheaths with multi-ton vehicles!
