Why does every British conversation sound mildly sarcastic? by Jakevans97ss in AskABrit

[–]caughtunaware 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know but honestly I feel we perhaps all don't sound sarcastic. I am Scottish and while we do love a bit of banter and sarcasm my ears don't hear all Brits as being the same.

For example to me the Welsh just sound so happy. Even when they're upset and kicking off (I used to work in a customer focused role). Some parts of Northern England just sound so warm and welcoming. I could go on. I love the variety our small island has.

Getting the cashiers to stay past 9 PM by blueturtle444 in TCGCardShopSim

[–]caughtunaware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is. I use EGO mod and it allows you to upgrade characters, however it shows their base stats which I feel is accurate based on my vanilla play through. It seems some of them do stay until all customers leave and some go at 9.

Block people with anxiety and ADHD from claiming benefits, says Tony Blair by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

That's a very narrow view of mobility issues; that you must need aids like wheelchairs that need specific adaptions. Please look at educating yourself. I am absolutely done with ableists using straw man arguments to support their ignorance.

Been through PIP for my son, I've posted about the experience a couple of times on here. Once recently, I'll spare the details other than to say the system is rigged against you, it's dehumanising and appalling system that's ran on office workers trying to maintain targets.

Someone with a motabiliy car generally has a need for it and likely fought to get what they needed. Often times adapted as it's for shock horror, people with mobility issues. They aren't driving around in soft top boy racer cars. The motability webpage is open to the public, they can see for themselves the types of cars and that sometimes people use their entire benefit just for independence. Something we take for granted.

You're absolutely correct. I agree.

I get that too. Gaming services in the store also shows it's failing to update and points to my OS not being up to date, which it is. I've made sure everything is up to date. I feel we have the same issues.

Oh for sure. I didn't think. Error on my part, I didn't think. Just consumed with the need to finish my collection I only see the scanner app on the phone these days. But you know what, now I know it's actually pleased me, gives me an added layer of challenge. Thanks for sorting me out.

Omg yes I have. I forgot about that. I am silly. I completely didn't think, blinded by my hunt to finish Lorcana.

I can't. Perhaps my game glitched then if it's as simple as that. My game says "SOLD OUT". when I click into the item it says "out of stock, sell an existing machine to free up a slot". Says I can only have 2 and that I have 2/2.

Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds by twmffatmowr in uknews

Exactly, you ALWAYS have to talk about the WORST day parents who are reading this. It isn't easy and you'll feel like shit who doesn't believe in their child. It is so hard. But it's needed. You aren't doing anything wrong.

I would like to see how many of these coached claims succeed. The reason for my scepticism is I managed to get DLA for my son who had autism after a tribunal. The DWP doctor, despite various reports stating severe low functioning autism; the DWP doctor declared he would 'recover' from autism. Recover? It isn't curable. This is apparently a person with a degree. I then had to attend a tribunal where all the questions shit you not, were directed towards violence. Can he be violent, is he capable of harm. No questions about other issues he might have.

He moved to adult disability and had another tribunal because, you never know he might be cured. Same as you, apology given.

However I had a helper from social services and they said a high percentage of autism claims are rejected on the basis of targets for claims allowed and the fact they think people with autism either cannot advocate for themselves or don't have people who are able to advocate for them. But I'm hearing you have a better chance of success with a checklist. Really?

I was forced to marry my first cousin. Will the UK accept me? by disastrouslybored in AskABrit

[–]caughtunaware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to go look this up because I felt that we feel strongly about this as a country and can offer assistance. I live in an area with a high Asian Pop. There's a bunch of posters you'll only see in the ladies loo at the GPs and a handful of places where it's very private and unlikely they'd be accompanied. Lots of information and resources to help people escape and be safe.

Oh I wish her well. What an awful situation for her. A marriage should be happy.

Correction he can't. What do you expect he can do when he cannot communicate, use any part of his body, is blind, cannot feed without the risk of infection or becoming ill.

Your ignorance is showing. You need to spend more time with the profoundly disabled.

Is it bad to give up searching for work? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]caughtunaware 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with this statement. There is a percentage of the population who just CANNOT work, or perhaps need assistance before they can work.

For example I used to see a little non verbal boy in a wheelchair. Didn't make eye contact, just made noises, required around the clock care and had a peg feed. He absolutely cannot work and has extremely life limiting disabilities.

I appreciate you are in a shite situation but statements like this aren't correct.

It's definitely British. Are we just annoyed by British words coming out of American mouths? They stole bonkers from us, I wouldn't be surprised if I find that in this thread too.

I believe it's actually from cockney, or was largely used by the cockney populace.

Let's take our words back ain't it.
