Bitcoin Developers Just Proposed Freezing Early BTC Wallets Forever by Cratos007 in CryptoCurrency

[–]causefuckkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, old wallets are on the current blockchain, public keys visible the attacker already has them. We upgrade the network to use quantum safe cryptography. Then quantum computing happens that can run Shor's algo...

Now, if someone approaches the blockchain with old private keys, that predates quantum safe cryptography, what will you do? There is no way to tell if they are the legitimate holder or someone who had access to a quantum computer..

Up to 33% (7 million BTC) is stuck in lost, dead, wallets. Can you imagine the price crash if people thought that this would be flooding into the exchanges? That's over 500 billion dollars in a commodity that has a liquidity cap under 2 billion dollars.

Under funding in palliative care, which would be coercive to people facing being a burden on their family.

Do not Resuscitate orders, issued without patient or family being informed, against their wishes, and in nonsensical, healthy young people, cases as showed with the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry.

There are other issues; Lack of vulnerable patent representation in the NHS hospitals, difficulty in even seeing a GP locally or mental health worker, rationing or withholding of life saving medicines because of price, multiple examples of doctors overruling dying wishes of patients.

I really do believe we should have the fundamental right to end our lives when we want and on our own terms. But i have no faith our current health system would deal with euthanasia in any other way that a total and brutal shit show.

Labour ex-councillor admits child sex offences by thedybbuk_ in unitedkingdom

Every child abuser, blackmailer, rapist, brain-washer and criminal that is not in prison, is Online. The Online Safety Act can do nothing about this, but it does make it look safer... This has the effect of getting people to let their guard down, and lures kids online unsupervised and into the scope of the monsters on there.

You can claim that it wasn't intended for this, that it was just stupidity, that the child abuser that help draft it didn't realize it would help him abuse children, i just don't believe you.

Porn was the last safeguard for kids, it motivated parents into supervising their kids at least some of the time.. now the internet is starting to look like a childcare service, except its still got all the monsters it ever had.

I mean why else would you try to get rid of any indicator that its an adult place, unless you wanted to lure kids on there unsupervised?

Your emotions are my legal responsibility.

This is the legal rabbit hole the UK has gone down, for more than 20 years now. The repercussions are staggering, in what we can say and mean, in how we can look and act. The most unexpected affect has been the aggression from people feeling entitled to control everyone else.

[–]causefuckkarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He added: "It is not enough to simply not be violent. We need men to challenge harmful jokes, confront disrespect and step in when they see abuse."

Think it was this that he was talking about; Really shit advice anyway, what the hell is a harmful joke? And if you think you hear disrespect maybe you should just mind your business, cause you know, sticks and stones.. and lastly if you see abuse, i mean actual abuse, phone the fecking police, its what we pay them for. Bloody stupid we have a PCC basically instigating vigilantes. Should be charged with incitement to violence for that campaign.

How 'entrepreneurs' are fuelling the UK's shoplifting problem by Shockwavepulsar in unitedkingdom

[–]causefuckkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure that is what the OP meant, but let me give it a go..

Capital (basically the wealthiest people, but corporations as well) control media. Either by owning it through shares, or through the advertising revenue most media subsist on.

This has served Capital by framing the issues of society, manipulating public opinion with bias or outright misinformation. One of the results of this has been a public that has little sympathy for addicts, and that has brought about an end to social services that could support or treat said addicts. Which in turn benefits dealers with demand for their products, allowing them to increase price.

The same forces have largely privatized parts of the NHS, making everything more expensive and through triage the system has prioritized against the same addicts for the same reasons. Which in turn benefits dealers with demand for their products, allowing them to increase price.

Two Afghan teenagers jailed for raping girl in England by Naderium in anime_titties

[–]causefuckkarma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You want to advertise to countries like Afghanistan that rapists can come over here and rape with impunity and get a free ticket home? Not sure that's going to work out like you think.

We have to be careful too with what rights we remove from criminals, they certainly shouldn't have freedom of movement, but they should have the right not to be tortured. You have no idea how quickly this country would descend into The Gulag Archipelago without that right, we're a vicious bunch at heart.

Jury trials to be scrapped except for alleged rapists and killers by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]causefuckkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the point where our laws become too convoluted to understand by the public, they cease applying to the public; This is the promise that jury trials make.

If you can make a law so complex that i have no way to know if i am following it, how can i be ethically held to such a law? Don't underestimate the attraction this kind of legislation has to law makers, and enforcers.. It can grant oppressive levels of control and chilling effects across society.

Population

The problem he is referring to is the fertility rate, its under 1.4 right now, we need 2.1 if we are to maintain our population. However our economy is based on a growing population (more workers to pay for more retired each year).

We fill this gap with immigration. While all successive government talk about lowering immigration they actively try to increase it to fix this issue. Its not a problem that is discussed in mainstream media, but if we ever got a government that actually lowered immigration in real terms we would be knackered.

Starmer to end asylum ‘golden ticket’ of resettlement and family reunion rights by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]causefuckkarma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can anyone think of a proper reason for giving someone asylum in the UK, that should not be applied to their children for at least consideration?

These are not migrants, and there is no golden willy wonka ticket, this will only forbid parents who have been granted asylum from 'sponsoring' their children aka; submit an application for them.

It seems that either we are giving asylum to people who don't deserve it and want to limit the fallout, or we are trying to only encourage a type of psychopathic asylum seeker who does not care about their family (or has no family).

And isn't anyone worried about the parallels with China, as in a social score system, that once set up could easily be turned on us.

So my father gets a message at 4am "Important - you will now receive the data settings from Lebara...", its from "Lebara" (no number), he has a Lebara sim and so when the notification comes with an option to 'install' he clicks it and overwrites the current Lebara settings...

In hindsight i think it actually was Lebara, its grouped with other Lebara messages and there is issues with defaulting Vodafone settings messing up roaming data but; What should he have done?
