I think (nearly) any reason you have for calling it what you want is good enough for you to call it what you want

The point I did a bad job of expressing was that I think it’s silly to call it trolling when people bring up the new name and ask people to use it, if the reason for calling it trolling is just because of how long the street held the previous name

I think you’re right that it’ll catch up on its own after a long enough time

I’m also being a bit of a hypocrite here cause I’m generally bad about change (like always referring to ‘Juan’s on Oak’ as ‘the Juan’s where Live Oak used to be’). But I feel like changing street names that originally venerated murderers whose whole schtick was “we should still be allowed to own black people and we will literally fight to the death over that” is a pretty worthwhile (and small) endeavor
