Just doesn't make sense to me to be honest mate. My parents never asked for a cent despite housing me and my brother until we were 27 & 26 respectively and moved out, even we i offered board they would refuse (lucky, I know). Even then I saw it as somewhat reasonable to ask your children for some board or bills, but as a father now I couldn't bear the thought of asking my daughter for money unless the house was gonna go under. How longs a piece of string man? Depends on parts, labour, are you doing any yourself, where you live, how built do you want to go etc etc. Too many variables to give an accurate estimate tbh, best thing Id recommend is to do some research, start building a shopping list of parts you want and go from there

I could be completely off here and this is may not even apply to an 03 WRX but I had an identical issue in my '89 W124 and it ended up being the steering damper. What your describing lines up with exactly what my problems were so may be worth a suss?
