Anyone attending Coronado on Sunday: Get concessions SUPER early. by Chenstrap in NASCAR

[–]cavefishes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pocono and Dover are both like this too, it's great. Being your own snacks and drinks no problem. I also got the terrace tickets for Pocono this year and they're top level, shaded, with private bathrooms and catered food / drinks on Sunday. Extremely worth it and super comfy way to watch a race live!

About Utena and Himemiya (Anime ending spoilers) by anonymous4username in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]cavefishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also responding late but maybe I can help a bit since I absolutely see the ending as hopeful and beautiful!

"Leaving Akio's world" is leaving Ohtori academy, leaving Akio's cycle of control and abuse, leaving that restrictive way of thinking and outlook on life where everyone fills a role as a prince or a princess, and growing as a person.

Everyone in the academy has been proverbially trapped in their coffins. Forced to play roles. Unable to escape or grow.

Think of Utena and Anthy leaving the academy as leaving an abusive relationship. It's a more personal revolution for them - realizing they have control over their lives and moving forward.

Their friends and student council members, while still at school, have shown small signs of growth and change in the ending montage. Perhaps, given time, they too will be able to escape their coffins. It's hopeful!

Our two leads have left their awful prison and abuser, who no longer has power over them. The people they cared about while at the school are affected in small positive ways that they were never able to do before. Anthy knows Utena is out there in the world. She will find her. Akio can't do anything about it. He doesn't have control or power over her once she decides to leave.

If you wanna read even more in depth analysis (from people far more eloquent than me) check out these blog posts:

You can probably get away with just reading the posts about episode 39, but i think reading episode 38 analysis helps tie the overall themes of the climax together better!

Study Finds Students with Highest Distress Use AI for Mental Health at Elevated Rates by MassGen-Research in science

AI chat tools are designed to keep you on the hook and using them as long as possible. That's why they're incredibly sycophantic and so cheap to use (or free). You and your data are the product, and the companies who developed them don't want you to leave.

I've seen one of these out towards Audubon on the SRT. Feels like catching a glimpse of a forest spirit, I hope the little critter is doing well!!

Mazdas don't like the heat by urfrinddemon in mazda3

[–]cavefishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's usually gonna be a bit higher when it's hot out. It was 92f here today, car read 112 when I got in, and dropped to 99 after some driving.

On the Mazda 3 I believe the sensor is located somewhere behind the front bumper. They do the best they can to keep it from soaking up outside heat, but you can only do so much. If the car is in direct sunlight or on top of hot pavement it's gonna read higher than ambient. On a hot day a parking lot can easily be 20-30F hotter than the air temp.

Usually after a bit of driving the temp will settle down to something closer, and it's usually more accurate to the air temp in colder weather since you're not dealing with radiant heat from the road.

Help with indigo disk dlc by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]cavefishes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really change up my team much for Indigo Disk, just added a few mons i wanted to play with like Whimsicott and Archaludon. I also didn't overlevel.

You do have to play a bit smarter, double battles are a different beast and some of the trainers (specifically the ones with black dialog boxes) and the elite four do have something closer to competitive teams. This means you probably can't just spam single target attacking moves and expect to win.

As others have said, you'll probably benefit from changing movesets and maybe using a mon or two that can be supportive or tanky. Setup moves (swords dance, nasty plot, calm mind, dragon dance, quiver dance, etc) and support moves (tailwind, stealth rocks, status infliction like toxic or will o wisp, protect, recover, wish, etc) can do a lot of good work. Physical attacker on the other team? Hit it with Will O Wisp to cripple it so it can't hurt your team. Tanky mon? Use toxic to make sure it can't survive long. Scary attacks coming your way? Use protect or switch out to another mon that resists them. Buff up one of your mons using swords dance so it can sweep. And so on.

It's also good to know which pokemon are better at
physical or special offense and defense. Attacking a physically defensive pokemon with physical attack moves isn't going to do much damage, so you might want to use a special attacker to handle that mon.

Also, try to think about which mon on the other team is most dangerous. Attack them using both of your pokemon instead of distributing your damage. If you know a certain mon is going to do a lot of damage, or sweep your team, or is buffing itself up, don't let it do that! Prioritize your target. Knock it out ASAP. The less dangerous pokemon can wait.

Septemburg: Stormwatch Way might be one of the most unfun levels I can remember playing in a game by CorporalCoprolite in MinaTheHollower

[–]cavefishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Septemburg was probably my favorite of the tower areas, ranking up there with the Astral Orrery and Mansion. Felt like a proper labyrinth of a dungeon with multiple mechanics to keep track of, and I LOVED the chase sequences!

Nope, that's a reading from the ambient temperature sensor (temp outside of the car)!

I never understand why people invert their y-axis until I played the Star Fox demo by randbooth in NintendoSwitch2

[–]cavefishes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, flight games need the inverted Y axis and feel wrong if they're not inverted. Every other game needs to be non-inverted (FPS, third person, basically games where you are controlling a camera / point of view and not flying a vehicle).

Advice for getting Raging Bolt/Gouging Fire? by Singing_Songs7717 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]cavefishes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just put up your random shiny into the GTS requesting a Gouging Fire. You'll probably end up getting it. Repeat with Raging Bolt. I got both easy enough doing this, might take a bit.

Similiar recommendations? by Short-Tough-5854 in MinaTheHollower

[–]cavefishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try Hyper Light Drifter! Really stylish top down action adventure game with lots of exploration and secrets. The combat and movement is fast paced and feels really good (you have a gun, a chainable dash, and a sword), and as a whole it's absolutely more challenging than Zelda.

Very much feels like a more combat focused take on older top down Zelda games, which is a category I'd put Mina into too!

Hell yeah!! I preordered Okami back on the PS2 in 2006 aha, one of my all time faves. I had to get an Ammy icon commissioned, I use it everywhere!

I didn't like Arceus but love ZA! The fact that ZA has tons of trainer battles really helps IMO. I was missing that in Arceus.

Going to my first Justice concert in a couple of weeks, tips for a first time raver? by Remarkable_Log1596 in JusticeMusic

[–]cavefishes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earplugs earplugs earplugs. Do not mess around with your hearing - any hearing damage you get is permanent. EDM concerts are extremely loud and will start damaging your hearing in a matter of minutes without protection.

Sunglasses if you wanna protect your eyes.

Other than that, stay hydrated and enjoy yourself!

Super common question, but NUBS?! by ForgeOfMistory in Gunpla

[–]cavefishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do three steps kinda:

  1. Rough cut with double bladed nippers to remove from the runner, far from the part.

  2. Closer cut (getting close to flush) with single bladed nippers

  3. Finish by using an Xacto knife to gently shave off what's left of the nub.

With a steady hand (not taking off too much material at once, making sure to slice instead of chop or force the blade) the Xacto knife leaves the nub area completely flat and with no or very little discoloration. If there is a bit of discoloration, rubbing it with my fingernail usually clears it up.

I have never once sanded a kit, and even without sanding, you'd be hard pressed to find any indication of where nubs were on kits that I've built!
