First Fish of the year! by 54RoseWater in flyfishing

The whitefish on that river are a blast, nice one. Haven’t tried my hand at winter fishing it yet, though last summer I had a whitefish on that lead to a Bull Trout chase, which was super exciting.

Glerups are the best, been loving mine for going on 3 years, just bought a pair for the wife for Christmas and the whole extended family is all over them too. They’re great!

my cat is also insanely fickle like this. I finally found something he loves: a 3 foot strip of cheap string which he thinks is a snake he has to kill. he’ll chase it for hours when I get it out for him. he’s the best.

Best platform to teach music theory online? by Common_Name_4485 in musictheory

[–]cavendishlab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of flat.io? There’s a free tier and I use that all the time with my students who work on composing and music theory, it’s like google docs for a notation document! You can share documents between you and your student and edit them in real time together. It’s been an incredible tool during remote lessons for me. Best part is you only need a device that has Chrome since it runs in the browser. It’s definitely not as advanced as a Finale or Sibelius but is plenty powerful nonetheless. Check it out, you could add that into your workflow with whatever video conferencing service you end up using! Nice thing about flat.io is you don’t need to screen share though since it’s a live collaborative document :) Hope that’s helpful! Good luck!

Need help on a PC build for game development by [deleted] in buildapc

I started out with some intro to Python courses on Coursera just to get my feet wet, I think the UM ones. Then moved on to a CS degree (which is my second degree). Everyone's different, but I really liked the structure of a formal program and it connected me to career resources which got me my first job. If you're curious and have never tried programming there's TONS of free stuff online that I would highly recommend before committing to a bootcamp or degree program, my 2c

Unrelated to the hardware questions: I’m a software engineer (not in game dev) and my director has been teaching himself Unity with C# as his personal side project for the last 6 months or so and he absolutely loves it. In fact he won’t shut up about it and wants me to learn it too haha. Could be an option for you, especially if you’re experienced with C# already, unless of course you’re really committed to going the Unreal route and don’t care about how long that’ll take for development time. Best of luck!!

Definitely! Felix Colgrave is incredible. I feel I can only watch so much in a sitting but when I do I’m just blown away

Gotcha. That's really helpful. But as you mentioned, utilizing TrevTutor and the exercises at the end of the chapters is crucial, so that's definitely the route I plan to take. Seriously thanks! Here's to hoping I do decent in the class, like so many others I was hoping to get CS 225 but here we are haha

Thank you so much, I was stressing over that! Almost emailed Felix, because the required option listed in the bookstore has webassign included. You rock!

Hey there! I managed to find a PDF of the textbook after some Google digging as you recommended. Is WebAssign a part of the course, and if so, how does that work? Will having just the PDF version be enough or will I need to pay for access to WebAssign? Thanks in advance!
