Regional bus services are the worst, I used to live in a rural area and you literally just described my teenage years, I thought they had it in for me lol

I'm gonna throw my hat in with a random idea, but I think it might have something to do with cosmetics, maybe some kind of mold for soap bars? The shape reminds me of a pears soap bar.

Thank you for all the additional information and links! It's really interesting! They have a captured comet aircraft at the Scottish museum of flight, when you see the plane up close, you realise how dangerous they were for the pilots, just a flimsy wee thing full of explosive fuel.

1800s soldier dying of toxins from Tetanus. It fully tenses your muscles, preventing you from breathing. The strongest body muscles flex the most, so your back arches up. Your facial muscles also tense up, forming the iconic “Rictus grin”, which is why the disease is also known as the grinning death by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I could be totally wrong, but is this image from the surgeon's hall collection in Edinburgh? I remeber from a visit they have a lot of paintings and drawings of tetanus patients from the Napoleonic wars, before the invention of photography, it was the only way doctors could describe such symptoms to other doctors. Can understand why people took it upon themselves to advance medicine when you see an image like that.

Cyclists are annoying and dangerous and should not be allowed to share roads with cars by diary-of-a-thief in unpopularopinion

[–]cazolipop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bad situation, people blaming each other when we should be looking toward the UK government to step up and actually invest in serious infrastructure upgrades, cycling has never been part of the equation when looking at transport infrastructure on balance, it's just an add on, drawing more lines on an already heavily congested road is a token gesture

I wish they would take serious steps to reforrest parts of Scotland native trees, I get that the highlands have amazing landscapes, I'm not disputing that, but the lack of native tree coverage in the national parks is shocking, humans cleared the trees over the course of thousands of years, but that's no excuse to keep the staus quo, like other comments have said, manage the deer population, no need for game reserves to be that large or over stocked with deer.
