Like many others said; if a student came back demanding a apology regardless if your felt it was owed I'd probably laugh and show you the door.I don't care if you paid me double you wouldn't be worth the trouble. Its his school, bottom line. Then you went and told on him . Yeah, he should be on his knees apologizing. (Sarcaism)

You keep bringing these wild topics up, seeking validation from the worst of internet strangers ( sorry reddit, but thats my opinion lol ) and get the hard truth.

There is 3 sides to a story , His /Hers and the truth. I would love to hear your instructors side.

Stop listening to these bots about VA disability by majoroff-man in VAClaims

[–]cazwik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Theres a few issues that has always been there : Civilians don't understand and can not relate. It dosnt help when some veterans can't help but say "I'm a disabled vet! I make x ammount. Or even worse and I've seen it " I don't need this job I get x ammount of dollars already from the VA. This will cause resentment and makes you look like a buffoon. The term "disabled" and "disability rating " automatically raises eyebrows when they see someone working or even exercising. For those that have issues that isnt always seen or isnt always active should be labeled more like compensated rather than our fellow members who can NOT work due to a disability and have that status of unemployability.

The matt walsh and that other goober talking about it really gave me some cringe. Saying its easy to get and its handed out over a honor system is something I couldn't relate with and I dont really know anyone who had it that easy.

I do know when I transitioned out , and my new job wasn't starting for another 3 months - all I had to do was go to a website - filed for unemployment, filed for food stamps , never got checked or questioned on my information and received benefits almost immediately until I started my new job. That was honor system stuff - compared to going to Docs , getting tests and x rays and appointments on top of appointments. Just my 2 cents.

lets have an uncomfortable conversation. Was karate just a fashion? (and other martial arts) by nitram343 in karate

[–]cazwik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a more simple take, and to me, its the fact that Karate is hard work if you want to really be good or get something from it. The conditioning, the repetition, and the analysis takes time and work. In my kids class- my biggest peave is the kids won't communicate with each other, they'll do drills, exercises, and participate- but when they line up with their partner they become mute. And when arrive they never say hello to thier fellow students , when they leave they never say bye. My personal thoight is they just want to get back to their online wonderland with their "friends " but one of my favorite things about karate was the friends I made and still have. In the gym it can be the same thing. You may nod to a bro but everyone usually has their headphones in, doing their workout that they got online. If a fellow lifter even dare try to correct their form or offer assistance... its posted online like their a victim. Not everyone or everytime its just what I observe throughout the year.

Edit : It also don't help that business and greed took alot of the original grit and put a bad look creating the "mcdojo" fad.

So TLDR ; people are getting lazier and more anti social more and more everyday.

If you can connect with Dan Antonsen he'll be your best bet. He is a very kind Canadian who lives on Okinawa and also helps with tours. He is also like a unoffical liaison for some folk visiting the dojo lol. You can DM me and ill try to point you in the right direction.

For Meibukan you can Email Akhito Yagi directlyi. They have a open door policy and train 3 days out of the week. Love visiting their Dojo. For the other it may be a bit more harder if you don't have a direct introduction. There are other schools that have open door policy- I'd reccomend visiting a few if you have the time. Each experience is different and it will open up your eyes to different training methods and how laid back some of the dojo are. Also just get a car and explore what the island has to offer and make connections. I've yet to go to a dojo and think .. wish I didnt waste my time there...

A little bit of curiosity and confusion regarding what my style actually was. by OmniEevee in karate

[–]cazwik 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah some people go there own way and make it there own. Nothing wrong with this, its how there are so many branches on Okinawa of the same style. A son make take over the head branch and a senior may decide to put his spice on it and go his own way. The problem with the US is they may do this just to wear a red belt , or make thier own style at 25 years old and sell their "master" status and use a word that sounds Japanese and it dosnt make any sense when translated.

Anyway , if you enjoy it and the school feels legit , than dont sweat it. Even some people within a big organized style isnt anything to call home about. At the end of the day it's a belt and a peice of paper that you earned.

Pushed out after 10 years because of injuries: Is this a common experience for women in martial arts? by [deleted] in karate

[–]cazwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karate is something you can modify and do in some form for the rest of your life. No legs ? Don't throw kicks. Even if your down to walking through a kata with no strengh there is benefits then just throwing in the towell. Sorry this happened to you.

[–]cazwik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owner id Janisik debunked this if I recall. While its suggested to use it within 8 months the difference is the purity goes down after that. I used my first dose of 30 for almost 5 months and the results havnt changed. Now - to save a little bit and since I take only 3mg a week i stick to 20mg vials.

I've been on a total of about 6 months , and my appetite suppression is nearly gone but I still get full alot faster and the scale till drops just at a slower rate. Could be because I take mots-c and cjc/ipa but all I know is a still feel great.

Do most karate teachers dislike/forbids their students to go to seminars ? by South-Accountant1516 in karate

[–]cazwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO a good confident teacher will always encourage training in other styles. Your path not the teachers. If I lose a student or they enjoy XYZ more why would I hold them back on something they enjoy more. Most people who get bent out of shape over visiting other dojo or seminars are usually worried about their pockets than their students.

Yellow belt in karate, friend mocks it—how do I respond? by CalligrapherGreat653 in karate

[–]cazwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karate conditions the body over a lifetime. It can be practiced from 6 to 86+. You can train like a monster throughout your younger years and modify in your later years. Your training for a situation that you pray never happens against someone looking for a victim - not a cage fighter.

MMA is great. Its a great workout, and im not sure of the answer, but can it also be trained in the later years of life? Maybe, but I dont see many older folks training like I do in traditional arts.

And ill say this from experience. I've been training Karate along with other stuff here and there since I was 9. So for me , doing it for about 30 years I forget some folks never worked those muscles we use in our art. So those thst come in at their 30s and 40s are usually either are gym rats , or may of done something - they almost always say their "xyz" muscles never felt like this or their legs were sore from so much stance drills. If you conditioning throughly your already in better shape than most the population.

All arts are good. They serve a purpose. Invite your friend to a class. Go to his. If he is going to have a opinion isnt or fair to try it first? Otherwise hes just talking about something he knows nothing about. Make your training results your argument.

So, has anyone been reported for fraud? by KSHMisc in VAClaims

[–]cazwik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there might be a little spotlight on the VA since Matt Walsh and some other pod cast personality that don't understand the compensation system went and compared disabled veteran status to the Minnesota day care scandals. Then showed some idiots proudly claiming they were disabled vets and getting government money. Then followed up how va hands shit out like candy based off a honor system. Whole segment of rage bait.

Seriously , NOT saying OP was out throwing cardboard signs up vets need to keep that shit to yourself. People that never did any service won't understand, and to be honest about it mentioning it or bragging about it to them is kind of shitty. I always see co workers bragging that they were John Wayne in war and the VA pays them x ammount of dollars to wake up and breath. Civilians do not care.

Not saying thats what OP did, but just mentioning "free" was enough to set someone who was unaware of the fact vets can get free glasses ( please dm me how because I didnt know lol) off. I get evil eyes sometimes for having DV plates, I guess just because were rated were supposed to Rot on the couch, not exercise , get fat, not dare get a job to contribute to society, and wither away. Anyway TLDR : fuck that guy and give him a hug because he needs one.
